The annual Mt. Dora, FL - Antique Boat Show is scheduled for March 24-26 this year. It's focused on the old woodys but usually includes a showing by the Donzi folks as well as other glass classics. Had my '66 in the show a few years back but don't want it held hostage on a trailer. We usually just pull up near the little light house to walk the docks but the show is also on the lake where classics like gotcha's racing skiff will be bombing around. Lots of Amphibacars to see as well.If you come, there's more lake to see than you could do in a day, not just a puddle. There's a good ramp at Trimble Park south of Mt. Dora since the Dora ramp will be closed. There are a few restaurants and bars on the lakes as well. Hope you can make it!

Hey Ward, how are ya? Got the Skiff hooked up outside the firehouse as we speak. Valve lashing tomorrow at the motor builders. Then to the river for some practice. The word I'm receiving is 42 speed skiffs registered this year and that Tremble park will be closed to all recreational boaters. I know. Thats two public landings closed now for the weekend. Our trailers will be locked up inside the park for the night. Hoping to arrive before 2 on Thursday for prop testing and other set up changes. Will be there through Sunday about noon. Unfortunately my brother will not be in attendance but I should have a rider. Hope to see you and Ethan there. Hopefully will not need his abilities as a tow boat this year. 350 is doing much better than maxed out 283! Take care. zot. |

Nick, any chance you could pull a new trailer up from St. Pete, Owens and Sons for my brothers SeaCraft? Getting it to Mt. Dora would be a help. Thanks. zot. |

Smirkless, looks like I'm heading down Wednesday. I think Binkie will be attending as well. How 'bout you Nick? Hear ya got a motor to hang. My aunt is entertaining all week so I won't be down. I am still off following Monday and Tuesday. Any Tarpon or Snook lurking around? zot. |

ZOTCHA - Off topic, but there is a Whaler rendezvous to coincide with the Clayton Raceboat Regatta. Do you pull your skiff to that and do you recommend the event. Thanks, Bill |

cbgann, yes, that is one awesome show from what I understand. I do not tow that far, and I am always in Cape Cod at the same time. Go to the show. Very sharp.Judge, sorry I won't see you. Best friend is visiting parents in Naples. Another buddy in Sarasota. May go see my boys Mon. into Tues., though I will be leaving the skiff in Dora. Probably stay in Long Boat. Smirkless, I was incorrect. Tremble Park is open to recreational boaters. Hope to see you. To make it Whaler related...Tremble Park is on Lake Beauclaire. Today I skiffed over to a skiffers house on same lake to find a "10" refurb. on 1971 13 with refurbed same era Evinrude 40 with original shift/throttles. PRICELESS!! Dad was right. Shoulda stayed in school! Peace. zot. |

zotcha - Thanks for the insight on Clayton: Should be fun combined with the Whaler get together. We were in Costa Rica and missed Mt. Dora but assume you JSS guys put on a good show as always. Thanks again, Bill |

cb, had a ball. Even got to see Ward and his son Ethan (Smirkless) again this year. Boat held together fine. Did not get the water time I was hoping for but it is a very difficult "one man show". Had to take advantage of offers of help whenever they came. Probably about 6 hours of pure adrenaline. It was nice.First time we've ever had 32 or more skiffs in one place. Definately cool. I highly recommend you check out Clayton, ESPECIALLY if your whaler is remotely classic. You will be most welcome. zot. |
