Hey Beer Can Isle gang, was there a get together down in Tampa this weekend? I took the family to Tampa for Veteran's Day festivities at the Florida Aquarium and Busch Gardens. When leaving the Aquarium late Friday afternoon, I noticed a 15' Super Sport and one other small classic towed past me on Channelside drive. Lastly, I noticed a MarineMax vehicle with empty trailer. It was not a planned weekend for boating, but I couldn't help noticing. Big difference in temps! It is currently only 66 degrees in Jax and 81 degrees in Tampa. I am hoping to get out on local waters the next two weekends, local weather conditions permitting. Happy Whalering!

Mambo, Next weekend in downtown Tampa, the city is lighting up a big building, waterfront, with great artwork, music and so on. The mayor calls it quite notable. Then its worth a great nite on the whaler and hitting a few local spots for music food and fun! Is your boat around?Pat |

Swellmonster, thanks for the tip. Too bad this evening event did not coincide with Veterans Day weekend...seems to me would have made more sense over a holiday weekend to attract a larger crowd. Unfortunately, can not make a return engagement to Tampa so quickly, but I am looking for warmer climes to take a fishing trip in mid December with my Dad. Any recommendations on a waterside hotel with dockage in the Tampa area? One possibility for me might be MacDill AFB. I bet they have a large MWR marina. Any offshore species biting in West Central waters in December? |

Holiday Inn Sunspree at the skyway bridge. Close to everything, good fishing, hot tubs, restaraunts, lil islands to swill and chill... You may even be able to hook up with the legendary man him self, "The Judge" :) |

I'll be around. Swing over to beercan which is not far from skyway. We can arrange a mini rendezvous. We could also meet up near the skyway, couple small islands to beach on but no eye candy per say. Kings are running great now right in the shipping channel. More fish should roll in once water temp drops a few degrees. |
