It's been very quiet in here lately...I fugured by now there would be some talk about some sort of Great Lakes trip this coming summer. North Channel, Isle Royale? Is anyone thinking of anything in particular?

Dave - My wife and I are in the planning stages of a North Channel trip. for about 16 years, we stayed at Northernaire Lodge, just west of Gore Bay. We missed the going in '05 and '06, however are planning on going this year, probably late July or early August. NA is a nice central location with cabins and food. We usually spend a two or three days in the water there, and then trailerboat to other locations much quicker then running it. Little Current, Baie Fine are two usual locations best (for us) done by trailering. I know others are in the thinking/planning stages too. Regards - Don |

We'll be on Drummond Island the last full week of July again this year. I plan to spend more time on and around Grand Traverse Bay as well in the coming year.Roy |

Pat -I look forward to helping you put miles and miles under the hull this summer (and this spring). As for rendezvous, I'm trying to get the week of August 4-12 open for vacation from work to make something big happen. My "big trip" in July is already booked (family). Dave |

Very funny, Jimh. I could have used you and your tap set last Summer though. I had to buy a tap (along with a close-enough drill) at the Drummond Island Hardware Store to fix the latch on my fishbox that had the most ridiculosly tiny screw holding it on. I gave it a good yank to throw a nice salmon in there and the screw gave way, sending me and the salmon sprawling. A 1/4-20 stainless machine screw did the trick, with no more worries about flopping around on the deck with a bloody salmon!Come On Summer! Roy |

Henry--We Great Lakes Boston Whaler Cruising Club devotees are concerned about bringing our pristine hulls to brown water. Before any GLBWCC boat can to launched in brown water we have to get a variance from the Aqua-Committee. |

Do I have to renew my variance for the Mississippi River? |

David, I didn't ge my variance for the Mississippi / St. Croix last time, and spent a whole weekend trying to get the river off my hull.... I suspect you had a similar experience...
