What say you to a gathering on August 29th? Locations include either Cranes Beach in Essex Bay or Brave Boat Harbor, just north of Kittery, ME Tides for the 29th are: Brave Boat (York) High at 7:26 a.m, Low at 1:19 p.m. If this does not work, tell us what does. |

I should be good for the 29th and will launch from the Merrimack regardless of the final destination. Tides are not a factor at Crane's beach, however they are for Brave Boat Harbor where we would need to be in the harbor prior to low tide and then wait until the tide comes back up before we leave. Brave Boat is somewhat desolate. It is a really cool spot though. On a hot summer day, the scenery is much better at Crane's. I'll go anywhere, however, my vote is for Crane's. Plus, it's closer to the Gloucester crowd, so maybe Newtauk1 can make it. I'll bring a charcoal grill on the mother ship so we can cook up a feast. |

Cranes would be better. Made several trips to the back end this summer. Wife is comfortable with the trip. Mother-in-law has made the trip as well. Newt, John |

I wouldn't mind cleaning the cobwebs off the montauk and taking her for a ride for once, I'm embarrassed to tell you guys how many times I've been out this year.... I'm not familiar with anything up around that way.. It’d be helpfull for me to meet up with someone at the ramp if possible.....

Kids? I'll bring some. Cranes is about 10 miles south of the Merrimack. From Cashman's Ramp, the distance is a total of 14.5 miles. As Newtauk1 mentioned, the ride is nice from Gloucester and most of the trip would be protected in the Annisquam river. Here is the spot on the chart. http://picasaweb.google.com/newtrevenge/ RecentlyUpdated#5371347470608367810 |

As a heads up, bring a second anchor and line if you have one. The vast majority of boats will be anchored bow out with a second stern anchor on the beach. If you don't have a second anchor, you can dig in a spike or paddle or something or just raft up to my old barge. |

Ryan, I am at a slip near the Gloucester Launch behind the high school. You have to pass by my marina as you travel up the Annisquam River. I can meet you at the launch or as you pass by. The river is a slow crawl. It should take about 25-30mins to get to Cranes from the ramp. It is a nice trip up the river. John |

At the moment the long range models are a bit erratic. Take a look at the Long Range Discussion: http://www.wunderground.com/DisplayDisc.asp?DiscussionCode=BOX& StateCode=MA&SafeCityName=Ipswich If you boil it down, they don't really know. "Staying with the European (ecmwf)," that's rich!, given it has been less than accurate this season. |

It's too far out to check the weather. Lets pick a time to be at the Beach, say high noon? I'll be launching in Newburyport at least one hour prior to beach time, and ready to meet up with the Piscataqua crowd outside the mouth 20 minutes later. |

Just a early heads up. Tropical storm Danny (never liked the guy) is projected to come up the coast and be slightly south of the Cape on Saturday 2 pm. While I know computer models are very inaccurate, it could be possible that Saturday will be a no-go. I am good up to a SCA but that's it. See http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/AN/251.html and http://www.wunderground.com/DisplayDisc.asp?DiscussionCode=BOX& StateCode=MA&SafeCityName=Ipswich |

While there is a slight chance the models could be wrong, it's obvious to all so I will just say it. This gathering is POSTPONED due to weather. I will email everyone with some dates after Labor Day and start a new thread. Damn you, DANNY ^%$#@*&^%! |
