Here We go again!
I have 10 standard rooms booked for Saturday night(9 left as I am reserved) and 4 efficiencies. For Friday I have 10 std and 5 eff taken down. Rates are the same as the last few years..$85 for STD and $125 for Efficiency. The std rooms sleep 4 usually and the Eff have a kitchen, etc and sleep 6 I believe. Tiki bar, boat ramp & parking, trailer parking, band, firepit and baitshop are all included.

We normally meet at 9-10am at the ramp and head east towards the cowpens(Manatee hangout & 72 degree crystal clear springs) around 11am. There we eat, drink, swim, and be merry. I will try again this year to have a poker run but we'll discuss that at the ramp. Bring food and cheer and plenty of beer. Usually around 4-5ish we start heading back to the hotel which is about 1/2+ hour trip. We can and usually do stop at a bar or 2 on the way back or you can continue to the Tiki at the hotel. Once home and tied up we will hang out at the Tiki while those who need to shower and/or nap can do so. Around 7ish we usually head to the fire-pit and start dinner and a fire. We will have tables for you to setup your dish, etc. We will also have grills for cooking. Usually everyone brings a dish to share so pipe in what you are bringing so we know what not to bring, etc. Food is never a shortage and there is a store down the road for those long haulers to buy stuff that may spoil, etc. There is also a seafood market within walking distance if anyone wants to buy themselves something special to eat(you don't have to share or you can). We do need plates, forks, firewood, ammunition/explosives, etc so one can bring that instead of food. After dinner we(usually) have party favors and gifts to pass out to the members. Then we sometimes go to the Tiki and listen to the band. Afterwards we mosey back to the fire and slur and bable til the wee hours or until the manangement tells us to go to bed.

Sunday we have breakfast at 9ish at one of the local establishments and usually go for a ride down the river to the gulf and back. This is about 2 hours or less and very peacefull and natural. There is nothing to do out west and hence why we don't do that on Saturday. Basically MacRae's is the last place west on the river besides houses. Then we pack up around noon and leave. There are on occassion some who stay Sunday night so you can do that as well. Some have also come down on Thursday. Most however are Saturday.

This rendezvous is our largest and keeps getting larger every year. We have been doing this since about 2001 but I believe this is our 5th(maybe 6th??) "official" homosassa rendezvous. This is a family oriented gig just like all the others but it does get roudy and goes long into the night. Since we take down the WHOLE hotel we can pretty much do what we want because who will complain. I HIGHLY suggest those with youngins have something or someplace for them to go/do after dinner(movie, video, sleep, etc) as it does tend to get very adult. I am just warning those who have not attended. For those who have, you already know my warning is worse than the bite.

Who's coming? What ya bringing? Hope to see everyone there....again.

MacRae's: 352-628-2922 or go to www.Macraesofhomosassa.com

To reserve your room you need to call them and SPECIFY that you are with the Whaler club or they will tell you they are booked(because they are). You then give them your credit info. If you are not positive about coming please do not book as rooms are not plentifull. If you are positive but not 100% please reserve your room early as you have 48 hours to cancel and those who procrastinate have to stay down the road at a higher rate. We are 2 rooms short of last year so it is gonna be tight. Call now...operators are standing by!

Looks like we will be there this year. We do not need a room as we will bring our RV and stay bout a mile upriver where we can also launch and tie-up.

If you change the dates we might have a problem.

Jim and Joan and our Aussies Samantha and Taylor.

I pretty much copied & pasted last years thread so excuse the 5th annual(maybe 6th) sentence as this is now the 6th(maybe 7th).

If you attended last year is there any way you can, or may want to, get out of coming back? I can't find one...

Probably would be coming solo again and may need someone ELSE to back my rig down to the ramp for me Saturday afternoon for proper retrieval...

Damn that was fun... Someone needs to repost that morning (wasn't it light?) pic of fno again, Just for the Memories! Miss ya Frank! zotcha.

The sheep is ready to rock (literally) and roll into Homosassa this year. He has had a rough year with Jackson and Sonny riding him on a regular basis.

NO Len you don't get it. I'm going to make a DVD of Marvin singing National Anthem and give it to the DJs before they wave the flags. Instead of Lee WTF they can play Marvin Gaye this year. Ya, it'd be a beautiful thing. I am sure that old dude dancin' and dippin' with that General woman will throw down some steps with Marvin.

What do you think?

I think that if you want to talk politics or military stuff you should do it offline ;)

Can we please get back to the topic of the thread? Who is coming? What are you bringing? Which days are you staying, What boat are you driving, etc.

Can't make it, arm should be in a sling. Shoulder surgery, six months later the other side. Going to be a slow summer. Have Fun.

And one arm in a sling means exactly what? When Frank had his shoulder surgery it did not slow him down...hence his title of Seargant of Arm.

Use Dr. Bob as your throttleman! It will be like offshore racing in a idle speed zone....imagine the excitement. This could be the next big spectator sport. Kind of like minature golf compared to the PGA tour.

More like a yellow flaged or parade lap in Nascar, Dr.Bob Is in my boat for one reason only, to crank / winch up the grouper when my shoulders are shot.
As far a touching the wheel , he blew my last power head taking his girl to big beercan. He called up saying the horn was going off. I told him not to move.Went to get him in Whaler # 2 and he tried to idle on in. No keys for Dr. Bob.

At least Dave won't be playing bumper boats like he did with me at redneck alafia...oh must have been the bum shoulder preventing from turning the wheel or adjusting throttle..was hoping he'd show up and clean the black streaks off my boat!

Zotch, having been to one and bowing out of the next. What can I say???? I hope you have had a death in the family, because that is th only plausible excuse. Even then, you could haul the casket along in the boat and leave it by the fire pit.

Zot, I posted an apology this morning for my crude comments about a death in your family this morning but it did not appear. Musta been the Makers fog I was in. Seriously, I just meant to rib you about not showing up for year two. If you do have a casket, bring it and put it near the fire. I will sleep in it so Sandy can get a good nights sleep in the room.

Homosassa River Warning, it appeared in the Big Bend Forum.
Apparently, some one moved or some how they were moved, The Markers in HELL' Gate are not even accurate. Word is to idle through the Gate, unless you are a local and know how to get through. This is a super dangerous area, even if you know something about it, I even damaged a prop there last summer, tooo long a story tell here.

Let's get this right

Me and Frank need some Slivovitz or Zwack (is a Hungarian company producing a variety of traditional Hungarian liquors and wine since 1790, founded by József Zwack.[1] Their best-known product is Unicum, an herbal liquor, which is exported to 40 countries world wide, sometimes under the tradename Zwack.[2] The company also produces various Palinka (Hungarian fruit brandies), as well as distributing Hungarian wines, among them several vintages of Tokaji.
Zwack's main brands include Unicum, Unicum Next a sweeter/milder version of Unicum (which is sold in the United States as Zwack liqueur), Vilmos pear palinka (simply called Vilmoskörte), St. Hubertus orange liqueur, Fütyülős apricot palinka, and Kosher plum palinka.)

Nick needs Ouzo and Metaxa

Len's doin rum, coke and lemon

AND we need to kill a lamb, who's bringing the spit?

I'll bring my cousins....

Macawegian!!! Or is it Norwedonian???? Pete, seriously there is no time in the day on Saturday to spit a lamb, goat, or other cloven hooved beast. The smoker idea is a bit far-fetched as well. We never seem to be able to get dinner off the ground until 5 0r 6 and then it gets dark and the bottle creatures come out..... I will bring all the Unicum you can drink. My mother, since passed away loved that shit. I have two or three bottles in my house taking up valuable whiskey and Tequila shelf space and I will never drink it, ever. It's all yours, give some to your Kielbasa buddy for when he is killing a pig at 7 a.m.

If I strike out on fresh grouper on Friday, should I bust my butt to bring little neck clams again? Again, I've got plenty of frozen shrimp from last season, but if those PRAWNS are coming from the south I will save my 'bait", and the embarrassment!

I'd like to invite two couples for dinner Saturday night. The first from Hernando Beach, our hosts from the previous two nights, and their guests from the Keys. They are all a Hoot, and will be interested in a side dish request. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. zot.

We don't need his grill to be honest. My friend is bringing one in his truck, etc. How is Pat gonna tow a boat and a grill? I would rather have him bring his boat, even with that pollution monster on the transom ;)

The big grill was in the back of his truck, so no problem. Had I not bought and brought the charcoal one last year there would have been some late nite dinners. One thing Pat is, a good caterer....Also a nutjob and nice guy...

Nice guys!! You gotz to be nuts to hang in this crowd. If your tame your lame!! (sounds like a CW bumper sticker)
Franks right, the grill folds down and room for a few 6 ft tables. Its not my favorite grill cause it should have a lid to keep heat in and cook the goodies.
Follow me on facebook and twitter and lambationsdotcom :)

I do have one of those indirect cookers that cooks pigs or goats or porks slowly inside with charcoal for the fuel on top

No GOAT cheese? Do you know what the Hungarians say about goat cheese? I mean it, man total respects- - let's see if we can figger that one out.

Goat cheese or Goat ROPERS?

I think you meant no GOAT ROPERS, Binks

Does any one have good remedy to keep rodents out of ones vehicle wiring and A/C hoses? For the third time the @#@$$%%^^ rodents have destroyed wiring and vacuum hoses in one of our vehicles. I am getting the motor home ready for the grand party and now I have to repair it before I leave for Homosassa. I'll get it done but I need good advice besides nuking the squirrels. We will be here!!!

Mothballs under the hood. My friends wiring in an almost brand new car was eaten by squirrels. The ultimate reason was all of the love bugs embedded on stuff inside his engine compartment. He cleans it religiously now during love bug season.

Mothballs just around the vehicle or around your house will keep away just about everything including cats. I used to do it to keep other cats away so mine would stop trying to defend their territory on my curtains, etc.

Thanks
The mothball bag was empty. I will fill it again and add more bags. This is beginning to get expensive. Never thought about love bugs!! A new partial harness is ordered and all I have to do now is remove the alternator and install the new wiring. I have already removed all the intake housing. I am going to enjoy getting to Homosaassa this time.

Samtay, just had the same problem, 1st you need to find where the things are getting in at. I found two places, roof a/c and around the steering column (boot was torn). Little boogers ate the wiring in the a/c and screwed up the duck-work as you have stated, I have put the moth balls in some of my wife's old stockings around the motor home and also use (heard they work as well but mostly for ants) the fabric softener sheets in the cabinets. The other problem is where you have your motor home, bushes and trees in the area breed the little boogers, so they make a quick dash to the motor home. Above all make sure there is no food left in the motor home after one of your trips. The other problem is not using it enough, I think if you just get it once a week and drive it around the block would help a lot....Good luck

The rodents did not get into the living space of the motor home. They are making nests under the intake manifold on the engine. There is a space under the manifold that measures about a cubic foot. The rodents fill the space with dry leaves and Spanish moss. This is a combustible material and a potential fire hazard. The rodents are chewing all the insulation off some of the wiring and leaving bare wire dangling in the nests. The last wire in the nest was chewed all the way through the wire. The other item they have chewed up entirely was the plastic vacuum hoses to the air-conditioning controls. This has been repaired 3 times.

My OR-20 is in the same area and there is a potential problem in the boat's wire and hose tunnel. As you may be aware, that space is large enough to raise a family of rodents. I have removed many leaves from the tunnel and cleaned it thoroughly when I rebuilt the fuel tank cover. I have put screen wire over the entrances to the tunnel and put moth balls in the tunnel. Any damage in this area would be a catastrophe.

Thought I would pass on some of the worry to the rest of you.

Cheers
Jim
