My family and I took the Okeechobee Waterway from ft Myers to Stuart Florida and back. I heard negative comments on this forum about the route but took the trip anyway. It was a beautiful relaxing and not very challenging trip that I would highly recommend.

Great video I put it in my favorites. After seeing it, it brought back memories of Ft. Myers, my home for over 30 years. Yes central Florida is nice and convenient too, but SW Fl. is the real Florida. Now I/m thinking about making that same trip, in the fall after the rainy season when I get my 15 footer finished. Thanks for sharing.

Make sure you check the lock status. Moore Haven Lock is scheduled for a major upgrade (something to do with manatees)and will be closed for months.
The locks were pretty irregular and we almost got caught on the wrong side of Franklin Lock on our way back. Call ahead and check.
