I am going to be on the inland waterway with Outré this weekend. We are also going to try a trip to Mackinac Island and I was curious if anyone else was planning on being in the area this weekend. |

Pat I know Don lives on Mullet Lake, do you know the name of his Revenge? I will probably do some running along the shoreline and will keep an eye out for it |

Bob, Unfortunately I will not be up at the family cottage on Mullett until August. When I was last up there, in May, I left all of my whalers in the "Shipyard" (Shipyard is the nickname for our pole barn)except for the Revenge which I have down here in Northville where I am working to get it ready for the North Channel trip. Elsa and I are planning on doing another Fall Whaler gathering on Mullett. Perhaps we will see you then. -Don |

Teak - We are missing each other by about a week. Just spent the 4th on Mackinac Island. Cruised to Hessel one day, Cheboygan for lunch at the Boathouse the next day. If your heading to the island, and you have difficulties obtaining a slip at the state marina here's a solution: Go west two docks on the other side of the large Arnold shipping dock. East side of that dock there is a large (50') older Chris Craft cruiser moored there. Pull up in front, and look for "Ed". Tell him that the guy with the older 21 Outrage he was admiring suggested to look him up. He can give you further instructions. It's pretty protected in that area. Regards - Don |

Thanks for the info Don. I have never been to the state dock on the island and was wondering how the docking situation was there. If the weather is nice I would like to visit the island on Friday. Perhaps on Friday there would be less traffic than on Saturday or Sunday. Don J. the fall tour is on my list of trips I would like to go on. This year I will keep an eye out for the GTG dates. |

There is some sort of on line reservation system that was mentioned, probably through the www.michigan.gov main website. And there are "day" slips available. Regards - Don |

We've started calling the State Dock on Mackinac Island (906-847-3561), as we leave to head over, to check the availability of the 4 hour docks during the day. A couple of summers ago we went to the island from Cedarville on two different occasions (3-4 weeks apart) only to be told the 4 hour docks were full. We had never had that happened to us before. Neither of these trips were during the Chicago or Port Huron races or their aftermath and neither were made on a Saturday or Sunday. On one of those days the attendant at the State Dock directed us over to the Arnold Dock. We found one 20 foot boat tied up along a couple hundred feet of dock. We tied up and went to find someone to pay for a few hours and have some lunch. That plan ended right away and we realized why there was only one boat paying to dock there... we were told it was $1 a foot plus $10 for every person on board! I explained we were not there for the night, just for lunch, a few hours, etc., and asked what that amount of rent would cost us. The response was "it's the same." I offered $15 to help fill their big empty dock for a few hours, she just repeated their rates. Have a great trip. |

We had perfect weather for the trip to Mackinac Island and had no problem going under the bridge as well. Thanks again for the info http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v735/MontaukBob/ Mackinac%20Island%20and%20Inland%20Waterway/ |
