Ricks is on the Hillsborough River and is about a four mile ride north of the mouth of the Alafia river . There are ramps on the Hillsborough River like Lowery Park which is above Ricks and maybe Davis Island which is close.

I have always wanted to take the group out of the Alafia to see the south shore area that includes downtown area and we did go up in that part on one trip.

Im good to go any where in the area. Nick left me a note a few nights ago that he was very busy at work but would like to try to put some type of trip together.

The trip out of the Alafia can be done with the 13 ft.ers on a nice day or just plan on a bumpy ride for the short 15 minutes it takes to cross over to the Hills. mouth which is downtown Tampa.

Ricks is a really good idea as they have great food and once you get in the river it is a smooth ride. A lot of things to see on that trip.

With my 17 Montauk I can go anywhere in the bay and hang with the 13s as needed.

So lets try to get something together and I will help as much as possible. Im sure if will nail down a date Nick will show.

Dave

I believe this is our 5th annual and although the groups are always small, we always have a blast.

This is an easy daytrip for most as it is minutes south of rt4 in Tampa, minutes off exit 250 on rt275. Mapquest Riverview boat ramp on rt41.

Let's plan on meeting at the ramp at 10am and then heading up river to the springs. Hang out there for a little with the natives and manatees, then head to the local bars for beers and wings.

Roll call!

I'll be there in a 1983 13 Sport. 2-4 people.

I have three whalers to bring, and two friends with whalers. I could also let the guys at MarineMax know and see if they can get the word out. How many people do you want?

SP, have you done a roll call yet?

LMK, JT

On Feb. 1st the tides will work with us. Low tide at 9:23am. which will not be a factor at the ramp and High tide at 4:01pm that will be around to help with the seawalls at the pubs.

One thing to keep in mind is that the boat ramp at Hy. 41 ( Williams Park ) has a $5 dollar ramp fee for all day. There are a few other ramps around but with that low of a tide Williams is the best bet.

I will have 2 with the 17 Montauk and maybe 2 more in the Newport, not sure yet.

Any date is good with me as this is my home port....)

As for the last 30 year's my Montauk will be tied to the dock Sat. morning if anyone wants to show. The river is not really at it's best this time of year. With the low tide the springs will not offer much to see and none will enter the water.

As for the wings and watering holes they really do not get up to speed until around 5 or 6 pm. when the entertainment and locals creep out.

I will have the Whaler out in the river and will answer any calls at 813-477-8511. Most of the time the regulars leave the river and head out to the south shore area or to Ricks on the River during the cooler months.

The best time for the river trip is early fall or late spring . More boats and more fun at the pubs.

Will be out Sat. just to motor around as normal and may head over to the local islands or to Ricks.

Going to try to make the Homosassa trip.

Dave Neal

Great weather almost 80 and sunny
Maybe a gather at fantasy island then run to ricks
Just working it

That's a great idea Swell. The trip out to fantasy and over to the downtown area and up to ricks is a good easy ride. Have done that in a canoe with a trolling motor.

Will be out in the river at 10 am. and will go anywhere.

Ricks has great food. Lots of things to see on the way.

8am. A little foggy out on the river but that will be gone soon. Rain is gone. I will motor out around 10 am. If I see any one that's good, if not will go fishing...)
