Well guess what day it is....MIKE MIKE MIKE MIKE MIKE.....it's Homosassa day! I am too busy and too tired right now to give details as they are the SAME every year so check out the archives. I believe the rates are still the same as well at MacRae's. I have sent out the e-mails for those on the mailing list. Those who are not need to e-mail me to get on it so you actually can reserve a room as they sell out in days if not hours. Event is 4/4-4/6 for those who want the full experience. Some just show up 4/5 for the day or night. We have/had 10 single rooms and 10 efficiencies which I believe are still $85/125 per night. In case you are too lazy to research it is not the most kid friendly event but just fine if they are in their rooms or local youth detention center by 9pm as it can get a bit crazy. Actually if they wind up in jail they are worthy of our rendezvous....in a few years when legal. We will have a keg and giveaways from Whaler like usual with a great pot luck dinner Sat night which is usually better than the dinner we pay for Friday at a restaurant. More details to follow but get in touch with MacRae's in Homosassa for your room ASAP and do NOT try and do it online. PLEASE refer to Whaler group or club or the WILL tell you they are booked. I also want people to post here they are booked so I can update on what rooms are still available. There are other places nearby but not as fun and crazy. Did I mention free boat & trailer parking, fire pit(bring wood?) and a TIKI bar onsite? They are old school and insist on a phone call. If nobody can find their number or need more info. call me at 941-545-3808. Thanks...Nick

Laurie and I will be there Friday-Sun with our 13' bad biotch if it runs. if not the 11' I am working on to sell. If not the 9' Squall with a 20hp. If not the 22 Donzi. If not I will ride with FNO and tend to the keg.

I'm in.

If Nick is riding with me we will need two kegs. One for us and one for him. I am in. Friday till Monday. I hate not doing anything on Sunday and I hate when I do something the place is overrun with jerks in the afternoon. As usual, the keg equipment is covered. I will also bring firewood and a few culinary delights.
zotcha posted 02-01-2014 08:35 PM ET (US)     Profile for zotcha  Send Email to zotcha
OK, I'm in. Booking room for Saturday night, though I will have the 15 19 miles south. If I have one guest, come in Friday night sans boat, and if I have more than two, I will bring the 15 up, launch, do dinner, and dock for the Friday Night Festivities.

Otherwise, bringing 15 in Saturday morning for the day, return for bar hop, pot-luck dinner, and check out Frank's Final Facial Expressions before retiring for the evening. Early departure Sunday morning. I will have firewood to restoke the fire for everyone's coffee, in my absence.

Should have 200 fresh South Cackalacki cherry stone clams for roasting. If our friends from the Keys show up with fresh, flash-frozen, cracked stone crab claws, homemade mustard and SHRIMP, previous experience dictates that my local shrimp are BAIT, or embarrassingly small. (I know, sounds like a personal problem).

zotcha.

Oh, and, previous experience also dictates that attendance at our favorite brown liquor watering hole, while returning from the spring, requires shoes and shirt for service.!. Just an FYI.

Will the Draftsmen's Wife be in attendance?

Anyone know a room count or should I call MacRae's? Len, me, Steve Lee & friends,Pat etc are all in. Try and get a head count and I will update Friday. Yes anyone is invited, just remember this can get rowdy and not really kid friendly unless young and in bed early. Any boat is welcome of course but Whalers are preferred. Bring a dish for Sat night and lunch for you boat Sat afternoon unless you want to wait until we stop somewhere on the river after 2ish. Friday we go to dinner but you can do whatever you want, don't have to follow. I will be there hopefully by 1 or so Friday leaving sunday around noon-1. See everyone there!

I'm rolling in to the Tiki Hut Fri afternoon. Then bringing boat in Saturday for overnight. May have blown engine in the Raptor returning from NYC... Headed down this week, so not sure if I can keep the clams that long. Firewood not a problem, just depends on which truck. Lookin forward to seeing all. zot.

We're (wife and I) getting in Friday afternoon, hopefully early enough to put the boat in and do a run. We'll bring a load of firewood, a side to share and our drink of choice for Saturday evening. Will there be an open grill?

I don't drink from a keg since college. And lost the sippi cup before they were born. Will have my own supply, but Thanks.

Packing now. Scored 300 clams yesterday afternoon. Two coolers and the rest of the Toyota bed will be full with seasoned pine. See you Friday night...unless theres something fun happening in Bradenton this weekend. I will be in Hernando Beach by dark ;D! zot.

Released the rooms for Macs....don't wanna hold them up.

Those who drink beer..$10 for beer all day to pay for keg. That is cheap. We are not going to deduct from general fund this year so those who indulge, please donate.

see everyone in a few days.

Sorry for all those who have cancelled as this is our LAST year of the rendezvous. I don't have time to organize it anymore and I think it is a time for a change. If I am wrong let me know either here or via e-mail or via-GCBWOA Facebook page. From the feedback I have received it just is not the same anymore and like Michael Jordan...time to quit while on top. See everyone Friday or Saturday. Should be a blast as usual.

Nicks event rocks! Its always a terrific time, even if i dont show.
In the last 5 months sold our catering company and freed up weekends.
I was very much looking forward to this shindig but now we are up in gainsville doing restaraunt consulting job.
Hey we are working. My Showtime whaler is still gorgeous and strong!
1998 with less than 800 hrs. Good and bad. But still runs like a cheeta on cocain!
Stay thirsty my friends!

Had a great time. Great seeing the core members there this year and basically the core members sans....oh can't tell.

We had a few firsts for the last...weird. Tom, Janis' husband for the first time since Kice Island showed. Although I busted his chops a bit, it was good seeing him and I am glad he showed and will see them again soon. At least your steak was not in the sand this time:). Frank brought the keg & Makers Mark and shuttled us to dinner and we are in his debt as most on Friday came sans yacht so Frank had a good passenger limit. Pontoon was the best idea my wife ever had...loved it better than towing and you can submarine them if enough weight on the bow next to the keg. Laughed my ass off when the motor came out. Zotcha made the trip and was awesome seeing him as well, next time we get DL. Miles, Cathy, Len & Margit & family, Steve Lee and family, JJ&Pop, Joe and D, Janis & Tom, Frank & Sandy and I hope I did not leave anyone out....intentionally :) Thanks for the great time. May we meet up again at another rendezvous. As Frank Sinatra would say...The Party's Over!!!

Sorry Pete & Ellen ;) Good job on farthest distance. Too bad Whaler treats us poorly and we had no prize for you guys...did I say that out loud?
fno posted 04-09-2014 11:20 PM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
Nick, don't forget the one prize that we did give away(for free)(Whiners beware!!!) A Boston Whaler burgee was raffled off for free. That's right!! Tickets were given out at no charge and the lucky winner got a red Burgee. Oh, and we also passed the pitcher around and got enough $$ to pay for the keg(barely, and that is the way it should be)(Whiners beware!!!) While the Southern contingent of Whaler owners and Continuous Wave members certainly have the best parties and weekend long rendezvous, we do not do this for any gain or profit. That is why we are folding it up after ten long years of great times and fellowship.(Whiners beware!!!) This doesn't mean we might forget and show up one weekend next April next year with a keg and a pontoon boat. As Nick said before me, the group we had this year was incredible and they all know how to find us in Homosassa on the right weekend at the right place if we happen to forget that we stopped having this rendezvous....

Rumor has it that we will be hosting an alternative gathering some time next year on the Saint Johns river. Let's see how it plays out. I am all for it, as the St. Johns river has tremendous boating opportunities and facilities available to both families and the partiers amongst us. (Whiners beware!!!)

Postscript: (Whiners beware!!!) is my invention to describe some of the turmoil that Nick and I got fed before this past weekend by some disgruntled participants. Fact of the matter is that we almost always have a substantial turnout of like minded folks that want to hang out, talk Whaler, cook brats for lunch, and do some gourmet grilling on Saturday night with a raffle, some cigars and libations afterwards. We keep it simple, and respect those that disagree with how we hold our events as long as they are aware beforehand that we are not going to change our ways for them. Not that we aren't open to suggestion, just don't bitch or whine.

We've driven over 20 hours many times, slept in the car just to hang for a few hours and would do it again for one of the best goll dang hullabaloos ever. (Ellen's spring break schedule is always weird, sometimes we can leave TH but this year Friday only option) Wholesome, all American and I don't smoke cigars. I have no idea why there'd ever be negative tension associated with good times, good folk, great boats.

Thanks for the memories... and you guys are always welcome at our place anytime you're around

Chapter in the book....

Cruise off into the sunset...

Happy Trails....

We had a great time, the West coast can be a refreshing change to the East. The work I've done on our boat was well worth it, it ran great and entertained well. Everyone was welcoming and G almost got to sew someone up? Looking forward to the St. Johns, close to home for us.

thanks again, Joe and G.

We missed your presence however and you are always welcome to escape your Michigan springtime for a weekend of sunshine. Again had a great time, especially when I almost submarined the pontoon. Len and I were laughing so hard that we did not notice the patrons were about to piss themselves...good times. I tried it again but the weight shift would not allow the prop to come out of the water. Anyhooo....we will do something next year if not sooner(or somebody else entertains one) but I will NOT be posting it here. If you want to attend, e-mail me to be on the list or check my GCBWOA Facebook page which...is bullshit. Want to hang with you guys, just need a change of pace and don't want any weirdos(except us) or as Frank said Whiners. Why does this look like last years event? The dates seem to be about the same but everything posted was from last year.

If we still have our boat, we will be there as we did last year. We were hoping there would be another Homosassa event 1n 2015.
