It must not be my year for trouble free boating. I found some milky fluid in the gearcase of my 1992 Evinrude 200 TXENE. Had a mechanic drop the unit and replace the seals and water pump. He said the gears looked in real good shape. So we headed out to Roche Harbor for the weekend to mess around and do some shrimping.

Upon arrival at our slip, we discovered that we did not have reverse. It would not click in and just ground the gears. Guess I should have checked reverse before I got 30 miles away from home. I called the mechanic but he did not want me to try to adjust anything. He thought we might lose forward if I messed with it.

We had a good time anyhow without the Revenge. My friend has a Montauk out there with a brand new F70 so we launched it and started the break in procedure. No shrimping but lots of time out on the water.

We made it back in with the Revenge with no problems. We used the kicker for reverse. Guess I was running twins, at least by the fuel dock and the retrieval dock at Twin Bridges. They are suppose to work on it today.

New "leaving the dock" check list for John.

Steering free
forward works
reverse works
kicker works
full fuel tanks
full oil resivor
