I'm just starting to look into buying a boat for inshore/soundside fishing. I've always liked whalers and enjoy riding in my uncle's 25 Outrage. In looking at the dealerships I've realized all the new outrages and the 22 dauntless come with or have an option of a head in the consol. As I have a wife and small children who would like to go with me this would be a great advantage. The new boats are out of my price range for now. Can any one tell me how old/small I can go and still have a head or be able to install one

Not many of the older boats had a head in them, except:

--the 20/22/25 Revenge cabin boats
--the 21 Revenge dual console boat had one seating option which mounted a head under the port console's seat.

I don't believe any of the older center console designs had a head concealed in them.

I think the current trend of having a head on otherwise open boats is a result of marketing them to women.

I have always said that if you want a woman to go out on a boat with you for more than two hours, you better have a head on it.

Another factor is more concern for the environment. Previously, any boat with a bucket aboard was considered to have a marine sanitation device.

I thought buying a Whaler was for quality and because the older ones rode so hard it kept women on shore, thats another reason to own one. I`d rather fish with a friend than my wife, it gets me away from her! He-He! Acctually she goes out on my Currituck once and awhile for the sun while I troll for Waleyes and Bass on Lake Erie, oh well. Regards-Jack Graner.

I guess I should clarify. I was mostly talking about a center console disign and most interested in how old I could see an Outrage or 22 Dauntless and still expect the head(option)

The 1994-1999 24' Outrage has a head in the console. They are selling from the low to mid 30's on up. I have one, it is a great boat.
