We've owned our montauk since '93 purchasing it from the original owner via 'divorce forces sale'. The special plaque with the hull number has been engraved with the original owners name. I've been trying to locate a source of a replacement plaque, as it seem's odd to have someone elses name on our boat. 8 years and our boat has not caused us any grief, so I think it's about time to change it out. The plaque is black painted aluminum or stainless with engraved whaler logo, hull # and a space for the owners name. Anyone know where I might locate one? It appears to be a factory item with the trademark symbol and all, however when I called the factory, they had no idea what I was talking about. sr

It may have been a special touch by the selling dealer. Any shop that makes and engraves trophys should be able to make one up for you. Dick |

I checked with my neighbor (the b/w dealer) he recalled it was provided with the hull and the owner had it engraved. I need to verify this with another owner of a 91 that I've seen around town but have not caught up with yet. I am beginning to think that your suggestion to have one made up by a trophy shop is the best way to get one. I might have them engrave a small sticky backed tag to place over the previous owners name, then there will be an ownership history as well. thank you for the idea, sr |

The sticky plaque is the way to go. Just be careful of what it is made of. |
