Hi. I recently bought a 28' Outrage. The twin 225's only draw fuel from the port side tank. I have not run the port tank totally dry in order to see if it will tap into the starboard but I cant believe that such a finely designed boat would function that way. Any tips, or possibly a transfer valve that I have over looked?

While I'm not familiar with the 28 Outrage, usually on boats that have more than one tank there is a valve or valves that you must switch to draw from a specific tank. For example, on a Whaler 27 with 3 tanks that I examined recently, there are two fuel pickups in each of the tanks. One pickup in each of the tanks is connected to a port side three way valve. The other pickup in each of the tanks is connected to starboard side three way valve. The port side three way valve is connected to the port motor and the starboard side three way valve is connected to the starboard motor. With this arrangement, each motor can draw fuel from any of the three tanks depending on how the valves are arranged. There is no automatic switching, it must be done manually. |

My 28 outrage has tank switches behind the fold up seat in the stern. As far as I know they did not produce a hull without the switches. You might have a collectors item. |
