I'm thinking of trading up from my '99 16' Dauntless to a slightly larger boat since my kids are getting bigger and we need a bit more room when fishing and cruising. We spend most of our time around NJ/NYC harbor and a few weeks each summer on Martha's Vineyard. I spoke to a local BW dealer and he has a leftover '03 Nantucket with a few options and a Merc 115 2 stroke and trailer that he will sell for $27K. He will give me $12K for my boat on the trade. The other option I'm considering is a recent 18 Outrage in the $20-$25K range. I'd appreciate any insights or suggestions from folks on this forum on the pros and cons of these or other options. Thanks!

I am getting the 04 190 Nantucket with a 135 Opti. There was a great thread a few months back here, and I believe also an article entitled "One Boat Six Engine Combinations", or something of the sort. The gist of it that 115hp 2 stroke offers an incredible bang for the buck. And I believe you will have a great new rig with great lines and easy trailerability. I believe you will love it, as I made that choice as well.

The price sounds great; it seems you are getting the benefit of the "clear the decks" rebates (3k i think towards options...ie electronics upgraded motor if you want...bimini top etc). What you are getting on your Dauntless? I can't judge. What options do you have on it? electronics? trailer? Obviously the difference is the real number (the trade in as well as the price of the new rig).

Which Dealer if I may ask?

JimH - Thanks for the link to the Nautucket engine performance data. Its an eye-opening comparison of the five engine options offered on the boat and, based on the data, I feel much more comfortable with the 115 2 stroke hanging on the Nantucket I'm considering. I have the '99 115 2 stroke on my 16' Dauntless and its performed very well for me but my initial thoughts were that a 115/2 would underpower the Nantucket since it is 500 lbs heavier. I'm now convinced that its more than adequate. I'm glad I asked...Thanks again!

Bricknj - Thaanks for your comments. The NY area dealer is Surfside3.
