Hello fellow Whaler owners,

Does anyone have a Dauntless 15 (with factory windshield and grab rail) and store it in a standard 7ft garage? I'm having trouble fitting mine in the garage. It's slightly taller than 7ft and I'm thinking my trailer causes the boat to sit too high off the ground. It's a Calkins trailer. Does anyone own one of those shorelander V style trailers with the Dauntless?

Thanks.

When you say "standard 7'garage" are you talking about the height of the door ? My Dauntless 15 is on a Magic Tilt trailer and it will barely go through the doorway. I usually pick the tongue up to move it around quicker and I have to put it down when going through the doorway. I have maybe an inch of clearance when rolling it through.
How much too tall is it ?

I have a 1999 Dauntless 16 with the windshield and console rail (tall) and it fits under the 7-foot standard garage door with 3-4 inches to spare. My trailer is a shorelandr bunk with a slight "vee" in the frame, and 13-inch tires.

How much over are you ?
Can you lower the jack and push the trailer/boat in by hand ?

If it's close, and you have an air-compressor, you can gain a bit by airing the tires down to go under the door.

yup, just lowering the jack gets my 15 on a shrlander keel roller bunk in with no more than an inch to spare. Incidentally one of the main considerations for me was to be able to keep the boat in the garage. It makes a big difference at resale time IMO. Every time I take it out I get "new boat"? from the old timers. Its 7 years old!!!

A correction is needed here: I have an EZ Loader (not a Shoreland'r) bunk trailer for my D16 - model EZW 14-18, 2100 lb capacity, torsion axle suspension.

RKong:

I have Shoreland'r V1515 "jet boat" trailer under my D15.
It's just a bunk trailer with 5.80x13" wheels. Rated for 1500 pounds. Fits in a garage but I don't know door height. I will measure and reply.

Correction to above. It has 12" tires. Also the bunks can be adjusted somewhat. I had to adjust on another boat. It's was not much 1"-1 1/2" but it couyld help.

My 15 ft Dauntless is 76 inches tall at the top of the grab handle (highest point) when on it's shoreland'r trailer. This was measured with the cover on.
