Tow years ago I bought a 1997 17' outrage and before that I had never seen or realized they were made. Only knew of the Mantauk. I see the were only made from 1995 to 1999 or 2000. See very few in my travels. Did they not sell well or were they too expensive or ? Are there any production figures on how meny were made ? Thanks for any feedback Lou

They were on the high end for the money. There are at least three on the st. lawrence river where we are in the summer. Great hulls that can handle alot of water.

I think whaler has adjusted to a "opening price point" perspective with their new small hulls, simplified, and perhaps even sharpened their pencils relative to the market. Perhaps this is a result of low numbers on the Outrage II 17' hull. If I had to make it home on a bad day in a 17', I can't think of another 17 that I'd trust more.

I own one and it's a great hull. I don't see too many in SF Bay, but I ran into another owner at the NorCal Whaler Rendezvous last year. A great hull whihc, when the motor is mounted right, is both smooth, dry, and quick.

CW member Marc/halibuthunter owns one, and I've had the opportunity to fish in her a couple of times. Great boat!

Lou,

They are a great boat. I purchased a 1997 Outrage 17 II myself because I wanted something a little bigger than my Montauk. I only had it a year because I preferred the Classic look. Just my preference. My wife and I moved up again to the Classic 1985 Outrage 18.

The Outrage 17 II handled well and felt like a much larger boat than the Montauk.
The year models were 1996 to 1999.

Tony,
Marcs boat is a Outrage 17 (I) which had the Classic hull. The year models of these boats were 1990 to 1995.

I do not know how many were manufactured but they had a lot of nice features.

I had a Outrage 17 and did alot of offshore fishing
with it.It was a great fishing boat.I would buy
another one if the price was right.

There was one on ebay a couple of years ago with
the teak wood option on the gunnels and console.
