I believe the DEFIANCE 34 was made in c.2000. Most Whalers hold their value well, but for some reason, the DEFIANCE 34 does not. They sold new for near $400,000, and now used ones are showing up for as little as $169,000. What is the story on the DEFIANCE 34? Why are they not popular? Were they just too much money when new? Is something wrong with them? Thanks in advance.

There weren't a lot made, Whaler didn't stick with them long enough, and they were on the pricey side.

In 2001/2002 I had the chance to buy a 2000 Defiant from Pelican Harbor in NJ and their asking price was $189K which is much lower then the 400k you quote the only 2 options this boat didn't have was the ice maker and tower. So some of these folks are not losing as much as you think.
