Repowering, and the price diff. is $1K, weight is 55 lbs more for the 150, and the cowl is a fair amount larger (almost Verado-like).

I think the cowl will bump the ski pylon when anchored at the beach - no biggie, I can take out the pylon, but the motor looks a bit chunky.

Also, my dauntless ('99) sits low in the water with its current 115hp 2 stroke merc (370 lbs) - scuppers are 3/4 under water with 1/4 fuel and nobody in the boat. I had a 2001 18' dauntless back in 2001, and had a Yamaha 150 2S on it (420 lbs if memory serves), and it sat the same way. I moved battery etc.. to console, made no diff.

So, the 140 is 55 lbs lighter, but I understand not uber-powerful - maybe not any more power than my (good compression / strong) 115hp 2 stroke. I get 42 mph max with the 115 with one person, 1/4 fuel.

Any experience with these motors on this boat ?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, I'm saving some money getting a CR engine - I understand about being harder to find props etc..., and it doesn't look like anything should cause problems with prop turbulence, but if anyone has any wisdom here, please chime in.

I'd be interested in hearing your experience with the new motor. I've also got an 18, but with the 135 Optimax. I hope I'm not due for a repower any time soon, but I do like the suzukis.
