From what I gather from previous threads, there is not a way to find out the actual number of Rage's produced. Any educated guesses out there?

Whaler would know. The challenge is whether you want it broken down by hull style. They made a 13, 14, 15, and 18 Rage.

I am not sure of the samller ones. But concernig the Rage 18, when I had called Whaler the gentleman who I spoke with did not know. I checked with Redline Marine, and American Turbine, (enginge & Jet pump manufactures).
They both agreed that they only made about 150 of them. They were only made in 96. Because they did not sell well, they were carried in the 97 catalog still by Whaler.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. To be more specific, I am interested in how many Rages were built with OMC powerheads and drives.

If Whaler only made 150 Rage 18's then they are one of the rarest Whalers built. I would like to know so when they become a collectable I can state I have the rarest whaler built on this web page :)

Kumeiga,
I sent you an e-mail a couple days ago.

Like I mentioned earlier American Turbine and Redline Marine argreed on the number. When I was at the Kent Island Boston Whaler Owners event, a coulple of the people from Whaler thought was about right, about the number. I do wish I had an exact figure though.

I am curious about options on the boats. There were several. One of them being the color matched cushions to the color of stripe and logo on the boat. Most of the ones I have seen on line have been white cushions. I have seen only three, (mine included) that have the green stripe on the cushions.

The option I know about are choice of engines. 5.0 and 5.8. Ron at American Turbine told the 5.8 was added since the 5.0 was samll for a heavy boat. Ron thinks the 5.8 is also small based on weight.

Fresh water shower.

Colors. My boat is Blue and white. I plan on upgrading the upholstery next year but looks like I might keep it original due to the rarity.

The best boat I saw on line over the years is one that had a Chevy 383 and the motor housing was changed to allow for an open transom. The modifcation followed the side shelfs in the motor compartment. This boat also had a standard exhaust system that did not use the opposing exhaust muffer.

I have looked at three 18 Rages and all three with 351 Redline engines had burnt valves at very low hours of usage.
anyone else have this problem or know the cause.

I have an option list from for 96' includes Rage 18;
351 = $1040
Halon Fire Extinguisher = $233
Fresh Water Flush Kit = $149
Aft Deck Cushion (white) = $284
Cockpit Carpeting = $308
Freshwater Shower = $401

Plus a complete list of Canvas for the boat.

Kumiega,
Is your cushions like a turquise blue or a Navy. Mine look Turqoise, but I beleiev they are faded, My stripe and Logo are Forest Green. I have gotten amy entire back seat recovered with a Forest Green stripe. Looks so much better now, matches the boat. I would love to see some pictures of your boat.
I am also curious if all the boats had the trimable Jet. From all the boats I have seen pictures of the the trim pump is in a different locations, which makes me think that this was a dealer option.
Would love to see the chevy set-up. I have seen one with single smaller mufflers insead of the large one.

Not sure why they would burn valves, my guess would be detonation possibly or bad gad to cause that. That motor defiantely needs the 89 octane.

Burnt valves is probably a sign of a bad carburetor. The Holley carburetors need to be rebuilt regularly to insure the engine receives a lot of gas. I read a lot when I tuned the engine when I replaced the carburetor and the heads. My old heads were OK but needed to be freshened up or replaced. I decided to replace since I plan on keeping this boat for many years to come.

I currently have the engine rich. I read a jet boat needs to run at 11 to 1 or below. A good article on tuning a tuning a carburetor for a boat can be found at:

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/resources/marine-carb.php

The blue is navy blue. The blue is also in the deck pad.

I would ask Ron at American about trim feature in the pump since it is an American Turbine part.
