Here are pictures of the leaning post backrest ordered from Dean at wwww.birdsallmarine this past August

This backrest is top quality and works very well.I paid approx $285 plus shipping but I believe the price has risen slightly now.
The vinyl is a perfect match.
The arms fold for storage but mine has just stayed in.
The angle on the pomponette rod holders on my leaning post is 0 degrees(they ask this when ordering).
The only drawback is the leaning post rod holders are a little over 1 1/2 inside diameter so the fit is a little loose. I may increase the size of the poly sleave on the aluminum tubing.
Yiddel just ordered one and he referenced my invoice number for this...Ken Cvitkovitch #22017.

The backrest allows a passenger greater security when sitting on the leaning post while underway.
I may drop the leaningpost an additional 2" by cutting down the posts(someone here has done this , I forget who) which will make sitting easier for my passenger. I never sit.

Also in August I ordered/returned a Garelick utility seat from a online store. It will not work on the nantucket because of the size of the seat. I wanted to attach it to the gunwale between the console and leaning post .
I was disappointed in the quality (price was $199). I thought it was designed to fold down when not needed , but its meant to be lifted off (storage a problem then)
also the seat had a cardboard bottom? and the vinyl was nowhere near the quality of Birdsalls.
I spoke briefly with Dean at birdsall last week and he gave a ballpark number of $350 for what they call a jump seat, no sizes or design details yet. Thats expensive but I know it would be good so I`ll see.
I also, with a lower priority want to change the rear quarter seat backrests to something higher . I would look to Birdsall for this too.

For fishing I have added a Wise folding chair( that I got at a Gander Mtn store in Minnesota for $99.
This will fit in the bow either on the anchor locker(bow cushion removed) or in the rear quarters. needs to be secured or folded down when underway. I have purchased one of these kits
http://www.kennedytiedown.com/
and will install on the anchor locker lid to keep the chair in place when travelling between fishing holes.

Ken, She's here, absolutly perfect matching to the leaning post cushion, top quality and worth every penny....Nice to have the seat back on the leaning post, best of both worlds:)

Highly recommended for Nantucket/Outrage owners with leaning posts.....

Thanks so much for your help and friendship:) Henry

I'll be ordering my soon......thanks for the tip.
I've been trading off between the seats & leaning post during the season & I seem to always eventually end up choosing the leaning post. The seats on the new Outrage 190 are pretty cool with the ability to use them as a seat & leaning post, but my guess is that they would be pretty pricey to order from Whaler. May be interesting to find out the cost though.

Be interesting to see some pics of that with all the configs( the new seats). I never had a need for the seats. I fit so perfectly in front of the leaning post I never considered anything else....The back rest is just a perfect fit for the leaning post and is mobile enough that if you want, you just pull her out and stick her in the CC if not wanted or needed. The other issue of loosing the rod holders is simply not an issue, they make any number of them on the back of the seat back as you need...you can get 2 or 4, I choose 2 like Ken.But you could easily add 2 more to the mix...It was something I wanted to do if I could find the perfect match to the leaning post and Ken found it.

Youl be glad you ordered it:)) Nice addition and assessory!
