From this diagram http://whalerparts.com/Diagrams/2007/190%20Montauk/08600190MTSHT1-3.pdf it looks like the factory runs their transducer cable down the port rigging tube and mounts the transducer on the port side of the transom. I know the factory leaves a pull string in the starboard rigging tube. Does anyone know if there’s a string on the left? I’ll plan on a left side mount as long as the swim step doesn’t interfere. Any thing I should or could know?

Rick:Their are strings on both sides, I did install my transducer on the right rear as I wanted to keep my swim step side as clear as possible. I also ran the transducer cable through the splashwell drain hole and into the hole where all the cables come out of, (fuel hose, control cables, etc, etc). Good luck, Fred |

Rick U,I installed a transducer for Garmin 535(?) on a 190 Montauk. On this boat the factory transducer (speed/temp?) is located on the starboard side and the cable was in the starboard rigging tube. The factory transducer was removed and remounted to the right of its original position and the new transducer was mounted in about the same position as the factory transducer. However, in an effort to minimize any interference the new transducer cable was run through the port side rigging tube. A new hole was drilled in the transom just to the right of the factory drilled hole. If you do this be careful not to drill to close to the factory hole as there is a large metal washer located on the interior wall of the transom where the factory transducer cable exits the transom wall. The transom in the area of the hole drilled by the factory for the factory transducer has no foam. (only wood) fwiw |

Great info, thanks. It sounds like using the stbd rigging tube is a simpler way to go. I like the idea of going through the splash well drain. Does the cable interfere with the scupper flap on the drain? Is it a bad idea to go over the top of the transom? I’d like to avoid drilling through the transome. |

RickYou don't have to go through the scupper drains, all you have to do is use the splash well drain which is open. i agree with you not to drill through the transom. Fred |
