I'm having a hard time finding a water sports tow harness locally that fits my 2004 Boston Whaler 150 Sport. I need the rope that connects the two stern eyes to the ski or tow rope. I need one for towing at least two people and prefer not to have a pulley. The two-person harnesses I've found have spring hooks that have too small of an opening to fit onto my stern eyes. The harnesses that have a carabiner style snap hook with a wider opening are all one person. Help!

Go to your local hardware store and buy two larger carabiners to replace the spring hooks on the two person bridle.

Thanks, but I was hoping not to spend an hour with a hack saw cutting off the spring hooks and hoping I don't cut the rope. There [has] to be a $10 to $20 harness out there that will fit.

Hook the spring hooks onto the larger caribiners.

And risk having all that metal bang against my Whaler's stern? You must be mad. :)

K Albus suggests what I did. The spring hooks are easy to cut with a SawZall, but can also be cut with a hack saw and a vise without that much trouble then replaced with the carabiner.

Look up turboswing if you want another solution but a lot more expensive. I`m getting one for my 190 Outrage this summer.

A bolt cutter will cut off your spring hooks. Most hardware stores will have one you could use in the section where they sell chain.

Instead of going to all the fuss with a hacksaw and the towing bridle hardware, just change the towing eyes on the transom of the Boston Whaler to something smaller.

I had a 2005 150 Sport and found a bridle at West Marine, although I just searched their website and couldn't find it. The clips on the bridle just barely fit the eyes on the stern, but it worked fine. It was gray and white intertwined rope if you spot one that looks like that.

Wait a second, sorry, just re-read your post, you want one for two person? As in two people skiing on separate tow ropes? My 150 Sport with a 60 would barely tow 1 person.

Jimh, that was sarcasm right?

I ended up ordering direct from the Connolly Skis website. Their product is called a 5/8" Heavy Duty Tow Harness and is supposed to be good for up to 4 people on a tube.

Thanks Jim, I got a good laugh from that one.
