[This article is seeking to] to establish value of a 2006 BOSTON WHALER 205 Conquest Cuddy Cabin for which the current owner is asking $34,000. [The boat under consideration has] a 150 Mercury Optimax and is lightly-used in fresh-water only. [The author is] still awaiting details from owner on actual hours. [Some unseen] photographs show [the] complete rig to be in excellent condition. [Give your] opinions [about the value of a 2006 Boston Whaler 205 CONQUEST], please.

I spent considerably more on my 190 Montauk (bought new), which is less boat. I use it quite heavily in both salt and fresh water. After 4 years it is still in excellent condition. These boats seem to be nearly indestructible. My wife mentioned she wants a cuddy style boat the next time around. Without seeing the boat in person, it seems like a very reasonable price. If I was in the market and spent $34,000 on that boat, I think I would feel like I got a great deal.

According to an old post at NY show in 2006 a 205 conquest with a 150 Verado was $51.500. I assume a base boat none or limited extras and no trailer.

Your OptiMax would of been cheaper still for a slightly under powered non-DTS engine. So unless fully loaded it seems a reasonable price if in mint condition and better depending on oem options fitted

Steve

Very good price considering a 1999 Conquest 23 still selling for $28,000. I know because I own a 23 and watch the market for value change often.

Trial it if possible. The 150 Optimax is very loud. You might not like that so upgrading later will raise you end price.

Upgrading the motor that is. That is what I ended up doing with my 2004 Nantucket that had a OptiMax 135. Now I have a 150 Yamaha

I have an 2005 Eastport--same boat--with a 150-HP Optimax. It is not underpowered unless you want a speed boat. I cruise at about 4,000-RPM at around 27-MPH, and she sips about seven gallons an hour. It is a little loud, but I have gotten used to that. By the way I love mine and would do it all over again if I had to.

I really like the 205 Eastport/Conquest. Not sure how old this posting is, but at least for comparison:

A good benchmark for figuring the value of a used boat is to compare to the price of a new boat of the same type, or, if the model is no longer made, to a boat of similar size in the current Boston Whaler line. After that, the condition of the used boat is the most influential factor.

In the current line of Boston Whaler boats, the most similar model to a 205 CONQUEST is probably the 200 DAUNTLESS. The 200 DAUNTLESS is selling for about $55,000, based on some boats advertised at BOATTRADERONLINE.COM--which is a good web site for doing research on current prices. There are also some used 205 CONQUEST boats listed there, as well as some unsold new boats in dealer inventory. All were priced substantially higher than the used boat you are inquiring about.

In an older classic Boston Whaler, $34,000 will buy a lot of boat these days.

This discussion of the Boston Whaler 205 CONQUEST has been moved to the POST-CLASSIC discussion area. The POST-CLASSIC discussion area concentrates on discussion specific to newer Boston Whaler boats.

I sold a 2007 205 conquest with 175 Verado 18 months ago for 37k without trailer I think? It had a VHF and garmin plotter/sounder and canvas. The condition was pristine.

Update on 205's on the market.
The 205 in Wayzata, Mn sold to a buyer from Montana and the 205 in central Indiana was purchased by me. I now have a 2006 170 Montauk to sell.

Hal Watkins, Your central Indiana 205 Conquest as I recall is like brand new. It may have a 2006 year on the title but if my memory is correct, I don't think it saw water for more than one season and then only from a trailer. You have a great find and for it size a full electronics package as well. Enjoy! Stinger

"1999 Conquest 23 still selling for $28,000"

Maybe, does it have twins?

My experience selling my loaded 23 1999 conquest w/ 250 efi merc may help. Put it for sale june 09, two lookers, one good comments on trial from a member here, no sales. She was in good condition. Reduced to 20k firm with trailer, still no lookers. Fianlly in November I got an offer and sold her for 18.5 k without the trailer. I could have held out and marketed her more (although it was on here and craigslist.)
