[I] am about to look at a 255 Conquest [which apparently has been set up with twin 135-HP outboard engines of unknown brand]. [I have] seen [Boston Whaler 255 CONQUEST boats] with single 250-HP EFI outboard engine and with dual 150-HP OptiMax outboard engines. [Will twin] 135-HP [outboard engines] be enough power for the 255 CONQUEST? To anyone who owns one: please feel free to chime in at any time. Thanx

Twin 135 HP outboards is plenty of power for the 255 Conquest.

I would go for a twin powered 255 Conquest before a single. I don't think there is enough propeller surface area on a single outboard to make that boat run well.

If you are a Mercury guy the new 150 Fourstorkes would be a great fit.

Don't make the mistake of a single engine. I did and regretted it. I had a 250 single the boat was bow heavy and close quarter handling was terrible. Backing into a slip was a nightmare. The boat itself was very fishable, comfortable and handled rough seas well. Get the twins! I wish someone had given me this advice.

Twin 135's would make it a dog, too loud, too slow. The above commentators have not owned a 255. I had a 2003 [255] powered with twin 200 HPDI Yamahas and that was optimum power.

I have a 2003 255 CONQUEST re-powered with twin Yamaha 150-HP outboard engines --a perfect match [and as] fast as [I] want to go.
