I am having a mooring cover made for my 240 OUTRAGE, and there are design problems. The design challenges I have come up with cannot be unique to my needs. I hope someone on CW has designed or seen a cover that will do the following:-- attach top of cover to the outer one-inch ring of the tee-top for both the front and back halves. The cover will zip on each side to make installing in the dock easier. What type of hooks or fasteners are available to perform this task? They would need to be sewn to the canvas and be easily cliped to the metal ring. velcro would be a pain. I see some mooring covers attach to tee top above the factory windshield but this would require me to remove my strata glass front and sides each time, not an option.
--drill no holes for snaps around rub rail. I had a [Wm. J. Mills & Co.] cover that used the plastic C-style clips to fasten the cover to the rub rail. Whaler has changed their design so this in no longer an option. I either have to attach snaps, or hooks to be used with a bungee cord in the hem of the cover. Any thoughts on this?
--cover the motor well or snap to the transom only. I have the euro-style transom. Do I leave the back open to make putting on the cover easier? Or, do I follow the rub rail all the way to the back of the boat and make room for the motors when they are raised? This would cover the back deck, but is that really needed?
Thanks for any suggestions. If you have seen this design I would love to hear your comments.--David.
