posted 11-18-2012 09:08 PM ET (US)         I have always had a Skeg Guard installed on all of my engines however this is the first time that one has caused extreme corrosion On my skeg. I removed it by using a chisel and hammer and it came off easily. Once I removed it wow was the skeg corroded. Had to grind, sand and repaint the skeg. I installed it three years ago when I bought the engine brand new. The Skeg Guard did not have a drain hole as the new ones do. If you have one of these things on your engine you better check it once in a while. I'm glad I did. Fred
