Re: Looking to Start

Keep in mind the limited tow capacity the buyer has. While a classic Montauk 17 or early Montauk 150 are nice, they exceed the tow rating. One additional item, capacity. 5 people is not practical in a 13 or a 15. In a Montauk 17, you can have two sitting on the RPS facing the stern, the driver stand...

E--given your tow vehicle, you are choices include the 13' Sport,15' Sport or the post 2000 130 Sport. You might also be able to handle a Dauntless 13. As for engines, classic whalers were rigged by the selling dealers so all brands are prevalent. For a 13' Sport, look for one with a 30-40 hp motor....

While a bit stumped, I would go back to the basics. - Check the hose and muffs. When I first turned on my garden hose, there was a lot of air. I would bleed off the air before adding the muffs. Sound plausible. - Have you had a frost or freeze? Ice blockage or hole in the hose? - Hose on full blast ...

In the future, do NOT rev the engine past [1,000-RPM] when on the [hose adaptor]. There is not sufficient water pressure for cooling. The Dauntless is marketed as a lake or near shore vessel versus the Outrage which can handle near and off-shore. The Boston Whaler website has very limited information for older model boats. Get a certified weight of boat and trailer from a commercial scale.

Re: Outrage17 II and Honda BF115: Repeated Oscillation of the Bow Up and Down

Lean--porpoising can be exacerbated by many conditions, including: --engine mounted too low --incorrect propeller --inadequate application of engine trim --stern weight bias --sea state --wind conditions. A typical engine mounting height for a Boston Whaler hull is 2 or 3 holes up. I did a search of...
