Fina here. My error. The Outrage is 1996.
[Apparently seeks comments about a 1996 OUTRAGE and to compare that boat with a classic c.1988 OUTRAGE 22--jimh]
1996 OUTRAGE v. 1988 Outrage 22
Re: 2004 190 NANTUCKET v. 1988 Outrage 22
The classic 1980's Outrage was 18'10 LOA. In 1992 or so they renamed it the Outrage 19

Re: 1996 OUTRAGE v. 1988 Outrage 22
Phil--I don't think that is the boat that FINA is talking about. I don't think the classic OUTRAGE 19 II model you have shown was made in 1996. I appreciate your reply to help FINA gain information about the boat he wants to compare to a c.1988 OUTRAGE 22, but I think you've got the wrong boat. The dimensions listed for a 1996 OUTRAGE 19 are quite different from the classic OUTRAGE 19 II hull you have mentioned.
FINA--it would be very helpful if you could give us the exact model and year of the boat you want to compare to an c.1988 OUTRAGE 22.

While I believe you are correct, I can't find any photos.
I am deleting the incorrect information above to avoid confusion.
I appreciate the gentle way you pointed out I was WRONG.

Re: 1996 OUTRAGE v. 1988 Outrage 22
I believe that the 1996 19' is called Outrage III (not II)
I would like to get opinions on how the 19 rides, any drawbacks vs. the 22.

Re: 1996 OUTRAGE v. 1988 Outrage 22
FINA--if I have this correct, you want opinions about how a 1996 BOSTON WHALER 19 OUTRAGE (as it is listed in the catalogue) compares to a classic c.1988 OUTRAGE 22 in its ride, and also if there are any drawbacks in a 1996 BOSTON WHALER 19 OUTRAGE compared to a c.1988 OUTRAGE 22.
The first thing that comes to mind is that the 19 OUTRAGE is about three feet shorter than the classic OUTRAGE 22. That's a drawback in my estimation. My general feeling about ride characteristics among Boston Whaler boats that have moderate V-hulls: length improves ride.
I also look at length-to-beam ratio. I recommend you compute the length-to-beam ratio of the two boats and see which one has a higher ratio. I suspect it will be the classic 22-footer; I'll leave the numbers for you to calculate. Let us know what the length-to-beam ratios are.
Next, I suggest that a 1996 boat will be eight years newer than a 1988 boat. But I don't think model-year age really can be strictly interpreted, as the care and maintenance of these older boats--all more than 20-years-old--really depends on their owner's diligence and the type of use they've had.
