Trailer for GUARDIAN 25

Postby nes4pres » Fri Sep 06, 2024 7:47 pm

Q1: trailer would be suitable for a GUARDIAN 25?

I am in the process of purchasing a GUARDIAN 25 and the trailer needs replacing.

Q2: do you know the all-up weight of the GUARDIAN 25 boat?

Many tandem axle trailers are rated for a GVWR of around 7,000-lbs. If the boat plus trailer do not exceed 7,000-lbs, then a tandem axle trailer will be workable.

Brunswick states standard configuration with swamped capacity is 4000LBS. However, should a person go with keel rollers, all rollers, or float on? Further, what trailer is preferable for the seating on the trailer of a whaler; lower, higher?

All comments welcome.

Specification for swamped capacity has nothing to due with total boat weight on the trailer. The swamped capacity is a measure of how much weight can be added to the hull before its buoyancy is exceeded.

The [model] year and [factory options on a particular GUARDIAN 25 boat] are factors in determining total weight.

Q3: What engines?

The GUARDIAN 25 will have a big fuel tank, so take that into consideration.

A GUARDIAN 25 has a dry weight from Brunswick; then add for engines and fuel, plus any other hardware attached.

Our fire department has a 1996 GUARDIAN, an ex-police boat. It came with a tri-axle trailer of the same age. The trailer had keel support rollers and bunks.

Q4: what are the make and model of the current trailer?

Q5: why does it need replacing rather than repairs?
