1994 MONTAUK 17 Restoration

[The restoration of my 1994 MONTAUK 17] has been a great project over the last two years, from late in 2022 to 2025. My favorite change to the boat was [removing] the twin six-gallon fuel tanks [which were mounted] on the deck in the [stern and replacing them with] an 18-gallon tank that I fitted into a cooler [in front of the center console]. This change really improved the weight distribution and helped the boat sit more level in the water. Now the boat accelerates onto plane more easily.

Also, I also moved the battery to the center console.

Those changes freed room on the aft cockpit deck.

I also replaced the original cushions with new ones made to the original specifications and colors.

In c.2024 I re-powered with a new SUZUKI 90-HP. This engine runs like a dream, and [the 1994 MONTAUK 17] is now a joy to operate.

I often run the boat over 20-miles offshore [of some location described by an unknown four-letter acronym, possibly referring to a part of Maryland]. This is no problem. The boat runs very well.

Q1: do you have any knowledge about what sort of decal was attached to the forward edge of the helm console that has been removed but has left behind an unusual shaded area that appears to be in the shape of a law enforcement badge (as seen in Figure 1)?
