Source for Replacement Cooler 150 MONTAUK

Postby avonnieda » Sun Jan 11, 2026 7:35 pm

Q1: what is a source for a replacement cooler for a 2021 150 MONTAUK?

I don't need the cushion, just the cooler.

Your assistance will be appreciated

Your nearest Boston Whaler dealer could probably get you an original cooler as used on that model.

jimh—thanks.

I was hoping to find a cheaper option [than buying a replacement cooler from a dealer], but I'll go there.

Adam—certainly Boston Whaler did not manufacture the cooler, so if you can identify the OEM that made the cooler, you should be able to find it at a lower price. The cooler was probably a consumer-off-the-shelf item, and not some custom-made, one-of-a-kind design to fit one particular model and year of a small boat.

We use a Yeti Tundra 35 cooler in our Montauk 150. The Whaler OEM Igloo coolers are above average but the Yeti quality matches the boat's high quality and toughness.

Yeti coolers are among the best at holding ice for longer periods than less expensive coolers. Their design is nothing special, they simply use more insulation. That results in thicker sides, tops and bottoms which results in less holding capacity compared to Igloo coolers of the same exterior dimensions. Replacing an Igloo cooler on a Boston Whaler with a Yeti cooler sized to fit in the same footprint will cost much more for less capacity. For those who overnight on their boats this may make economic sense but for those of us who use our boats for shorter excursions an Igloo will serve us just as well for much less money.

My choice for the money are Coleman coolers.
This one may work:

Save some money (at least $100 less compared to YETI) and look at RTIC coolers. They have Ultralight [coolers] that are lightweight.
