Source for tubing to replace damaged railing

Q1: [inferred question]: what retail vendor sells tubing suitable to replace two sections of damaged tubing about 44.5-inches long used in the railing on a 1987 SUPER SPORT LIMITED [15]?

ASIDE: the damage was caused by trees during Hurricane Helene.

Please note that in order to refer to a particular boat the following information must be given:
  • the model year;
  • the model family, such as OUTRAGE, REVENGE, MONTAUK, and so on;
  • the hull length nomenclature, such as 17, 170, 210, 22, and so on; and,
  • any peculiarities or options, such as work boat hull, Whaler Drive, Sterndrive, and so on.

Measure the outside diameter of the existing tubing used in the railing. The tubing is stainless steel and typically either 7/8-inch or 1-inch outside diameter.

Railing assemblies are often fabricated from carefully formed horizontal pieces, with vertical or slanted straight support stanchions.

Tubing is often available in wall thickness that allow a good telescoping fit between sizes with 1/8-inch difference in OD sizes. A tubing wall thickness of about 0.056 is a common figure for tubing that will fit within the next larger size (0.125-inch larger OD).

There are various stainless steel “marine” grade alloys. If the boat is to be used in tropical saltwater, use the most corrosion-resistant grade, typically called 316.
