Source for Yamaha End Cap Trim-Tilt Cylinder

Postby DDC17SS » Wed Jun 24, 2026 9:48 am

Q1: where can the larger end cap (not the smaller end cap) for a Yamaha 6H1-10 Tilt (to be used on an 1990 Yamaha 90 ETLD) be purchased ?

Since the particular part being sought looks like it is a part unique to the Yamaha engine trim assembly, I would expect that the best source of a replacement part would be from Yamaha.

One the other hand, the trim assembly might be provided to Yamaha as a finished part from a subcontractor, and if that were the case, then the part might be available from the subcontractor. However, the subcontractor is most likely a company in Japan, and obtaining the part from them may be rather difficult.

One noted manufacturer of outboard engine trim assemblies is Showa. There are many parts for Showa trim assemblies available, including some even available via AMAZON. Compare at

Here are some parts for a 90-HP Yamaha Showa end cap:

Since the part comes from an engine made 1990, this suggests that the engine is 36-years-old. Probably not every 1990 engine that used that trim assembly is still in use on a boat transom. There could be many engines that have been taken out of service. Perhaps there is a Yamaha dealer somewhere who maintains a "bone yard" of old engines which can provide useful parts. From such a dealer you might be able to obtain the particular part you are seeking.
