Fall Boating in The Gulf

Postby Jefecinco » Sat Sep 26, 2026 10:42 am

Recreational craft have been out in numbers this morning. The boating weather is just perfect. The 7:00 AM temperature was 66 F with moderate breezes. A high in the mid-eighties is expected. Gulf seas are a foot and inland waters are virtually calm. It doesn't get any better in Southern Alabama.

To hear of the pleasant weather and opportunity for boating in this Fall weekend down in the Gulf Coast is interesting news.

Way up here in northern MIchigan, we are now in day five of a stretch of beautiful Fall weather, with fair skies, light winds, and sunshine. However the overnight temperatures are now falling into the high-40-degrees-F range, and the morning dew collecting on the boat means your day starts with a very thorough wiping off of the boat, and a really cold "cold-start" for the engine.

Not all is perfection here. Thursday is predicted to be a washout.

Now we are expecting a CAT 2 hurricane. Perhaps I bragged too soon.
