![]() ![]() ![]() I have an 1988 Outrage 18 with a 1988 Yamaha 175-HP outboard. It seems the motor came with the boat from USA to England. The problem is I cannot find out what color it is. It has not been re-sprayed and is a graey-blue, not the marine blue of the period in England. Can anybody help. Thanks David. |

![]() ![]() ![]() David: If you email Sue Lodel at Twin Cities Marine, she maybe able to help you out. Besides being a great Whaler dealer she is a wiz on Yamaha outboards. She is the parts manager at the dealership. www.twincitiesmarine.com Hobie |

![]() ![]() DAVID, If the YAMAHA 1988 models were the same color as the 1987 models, then what you are looking for in a spray can is : YAMAHA Touch-up Paint MARINE SILVER # LUB-87PNT-SL-VR. Check with the YAMAHA dealer to make sure they used the same color back then for both years. If they did, that's the number. I do not think it is available anymore from YAMAHA, but the dealer may have some old stock or would have a replacement from another company. |

![]() ![]() ![]() David: Don't forget to clearcoat. Makes all the difference. Read the instructions regarding application, it's a bit different than applying your base color. I used Tempo Metalic Silver #6969, and Clear/Depth Coat # 6995 on my '88 70 HP Yamaha. Came out awesome. Hobie |

![]() ![]() ![]() You're welcome. I've seen this stuff at West Marine but can't find it on their site. Iboat Megastore has it though on this page and others: http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cgi?prod_id=40370¤t_category=tempo%20paint&cart_id=241740877 |

![]() ![]() ![]() Funny thing is Yamaha has 3 colors you can buy from them. Blue, silver/blue, & white. All pre 97? U.S. Yamahas are silver/grey. Some others like the older "C" models were the European blue color with the euro decals.....rare to see. The newer yamahas are a more silver/charcoal than silver/blue yet you CAN'T get that color from Tempo or Yamaha. My 98 needed a touchup and I had to use the silver/blue on the lower and it was substantially different. I went to a paint shop and had it color matched in a spray can to do it right. Sorry for the rant.....you need the Tempo #6969 for our engine. |

![]() ![]() ![]() The dark silver is also known as Gold(I think) at the dealer. It is for the limited edition model which I can't remember the name(XL?) but it had no HP listed. In the brochure it just said like 220+. Weird that they make that color yet they don't make the white that so many 9.9 4 strokes were made in. The blues that Tempo shows are not available in the US. |
