What kind of key?I just had some spares made at Ace Hardware for $1 a piece.
I only had one key for my Johnson outboard. The key was encased in a rubber OMC guard. I simply slit one half of the guard, pulled the key out and had it duplicated. Once done, I reinserted the old key and super glued it back together. You cannot tell it was ever opened up.
Since then, I found some old keys, with OMC rubber guards, from a boat scrapyard and did the same trick to the rubber guards.
I now have three keys that all look and function as OEM.
Total investment, about $6.00 and 20 minutes.
