is there anyone out there w/ a trolling motor on boat/ without haveing to remove the bow rail, i also need help on regards to why the bow lifts so high when im driving. i just purchased a 2000 boston whaler w/ yamaha 115, i love the boat just certain things needs to be done. HELP

I have different model boat (Outrage) that I mounted a trolling motor on and preserved the bow rails for safety. It took some thought but the key was to use a Minn Kota motor with the "Grip & Glide" stow and deploy system. This is different the the scissors deploy system which won't clear the bow rails. Also, your boat may be different but due to a lip on my Outrage bow I had to construct a custom base mount (made of oak & epoxy), which I mounted in same holes of one of the cleats I removed. On top of my custom mount I installed a Minn Kota Quick Release bracket. Hope this helps.

I mounted a trolling motor in the bow of my Dauntless 160 and was able to keep the bow rail intact. Here's a few pictures. Just click on the trolling motor link.

The motor is a 12 volt 55 lb thrust Minn Kota Riptide on a removable Minn Kota mount. I was able to run 6 gauge Ancor power wire through the rigging conduit and is wired to a single battery in the console with a circuit breaker. (the battery is a Ford Think electric vehicle battery) There is about 2" of clearance to get the motor under the rail when deploying. The 55lb motor moves the boat around fine on the mid 4-5 speed setting and on high setting can fish alongside a friend's bass boat through light to moderate weeds.

Yep, cmarques has the same type of setup. Minn Kota Rip Tide Saltwater with Grip Glide system. Just lift up and slide under the rail.

cmarques, and cwolf u guys r awesome, may i ask what state are you guys in, im just wondering if by any chance you guys are in californa, thank you very much btw, my brothe in law ownes 316lurecompany. so if u guys need baits let me know i can hook u guys up, and im also a toyota dealer. to check out baits go on www.316lurecompany.com

your always welcome to the dealership, btw, your in florida where about, cause i just bought a condo over there, just to enjoy the fishing, and taking the kids to disneyworld and what kinda trolling motor is that, im not used to a foot control, i like hand controll more, im a greenpea LOL, so dont laugh. what trolling motor would u reccomend for me, that i can fish salt water and hand control. tx

I'll dig up some more pic's soon. We live in east Orlando about 30 min from Disney and 30 minutes from Cocoa beach area.
This motor in it's 12 or 24 volt offering is about all your choice without cutting the rail. I am still getting used to a foot control but you can spend about an extra $120 for a wireless remote Co-pilot? add on. Mine has the autopilot feature with a built in compass to maintain a heading-it is cool! You basically point the motor in the direction you want to travel and the steering motor will keep compensating even if not moving and will track that same course even if blowing around.

Everyone I know that ownes a Minnkota has had to take it in to get repaired. Most of them end up with a motorguide....Warren
