After much online reseach I figured out what the Pate silver cap really is, the info is there on the web, including on this site but you have to put the right words in the search to get it to come up with out tons of other stuff. Anyway I confirmed from several sources that it was indeed a Stant #11623 which fits the 67-68 Bronco. I went to Advanced Auto and got it for $4.95. Its just like the orignial silver top vented one on my other Pate. I asked them for a '68 Bronco.
It is the one you want because its vented thru a little hole in the center bottom of the cap that vents past the gasket under the cap so there is no top vent visible on top of the cap. See article.

Pate wants $18.00 for it, if you can ever get them to answer the phone but why would you order it from them now?

Any idea if this cap will work with a 15 gallon Pate? I'm assuming it will, due to the impracticality of having different caps for different tanks.-k

Not as pretty but an OMC metal tank cap fits just fine with screw vent on top. Won't rust as fast either as the stant is just chrome.

The Stant cap fits my 18 gal Pate and my 15 gal. I took off the old OMC vented cap that came with the 18 gal and replaced it with the one from my 15 gal tank since the OMC hit a cross bar in the new starboard seat I installed to replace the wooden on in my newly purchase 15 Center Console. The OMC cap was very long in the tooth. The Stants look much better and have a lower height. Im going to buying another as spare. This was really a challenge to run down, I spent several months on and off looking on the web for confirmation that it was actually the Stant 11623.

Shamrock Auto Parts didn't have the Stant but did have a Murray Ultra PN# 6023 instead, made in Israel instead of Mexico like the Stant. It vents too, looks alot like the Pate and Stant 11623 except for the vent inside center is a plastic part with 5 holes instead of the one in a metal plug like in the Pate/Stant. Haven't tried it yet. Tommorow.
