Stiletto brand propellers will be discontinued effective July 15, 2015. As many of you know, Stiletto is one brand made by Precision Propeller Industries (PPI) which was bought by Yamaha in 2010 [actually 2008--jimh]. PPI makes many Yamaha branded propellers as well as Turbo branded propellers (which are distributed through the Yamaha dealer network). Turbo and Stiletto were PPI's original brands under its founder, Jim Booe. PPI makes propellers for other outboard manufacturers as well. The Stiletto brand was always the bargain brand, offering propellers at lower prices. This is why I have always been enthusiastic about them; they offered exceptional value, especially when you could be the same propeller under the Turbo brand for $100 more or the Yamaha brand for $200 more. I had long speculated that the Stiletto brand would fade away as the margins were low and PPI needs more an more production capacity to meet increased demand for Yamaha branded propellers. My prediction was accurate. I just received, by Certified Mail, a letter to dealers announcing the discontinuation of the brand effective July 15th. I have been a Stiletto dealer since 2006 and am very sorry this has happened but knew the day was coming. Buy 'em why you can, you will never again be able to buy so good a propeller for so little. |

Several months ago I spent some time searching for the home website for STILETTO propellers. I could not find one. I found a website for TURBO, but nothing for STILETTO brand propellers. I thought that was odd. Apparently the withdrawal of the STILETTO brand propeller has been underway for some time, if the lack of a web presence was any indication. |

PPI dropped the Stiletto web site around the time Yamaha acquired them in 2008. This is also when the Turbo web site was redesigned. The Stiletto web site was never very good so it was not a great loss. |

I have a Stiletto hub question. Their is a nearly new 811321 Stiletto prop on eBay for a good price that was on a Mercury 90, can I switch the hubs to fit OMC? Back ground first I bought a stiletto advantage 4.25 from you for my 89 Evinrude 70. The part number is D811319. The motor runs up to 6200rpm with two people and sometime I can get 6300 alone but the chine walking is pretty much unbearable much past 6200. I have toyed with buying the next size up prop 21p for the boat one to bring the rpm down but I also wonder if the higher pitch might have a little less lift which is what causes the chine walking? This email prompted me to seriously consider buying the 21p and the Google search came up with eBay ad. |

Yes, you can use whatever square bore hub you like with this propeller which is a 13-1/4" x 21" Advantage 4.25 Your WOT engine speed will be reduced by about 600 RPM |

I'm sorry they decided to discontinue Stiletto brand. I purchased one 2 years ago from Tom and I still enjoy my Stiletto propeller that gave my boat much better performances for a good price. Thanks again! |

So how long after July 15 do you think inventory will still be available? I may need to fast track my performance testing. |

A lot of the inventory is already gone. I have a list of what is left and it is spotty. Not sure there will be production of anything between now and July 15, but there might be. |

Well, it was a good run (pun intended) while it lasted. RIP Stiletto, and thank you Tom for being a dealer. I know firsthand it was a pain for you at times, but you stuck with it and saved our collective membership thousands of dollars over the years. |

Tom - I better get off the dime.... Two questions: 1 - What would you recommend for a 1974 21' Outrage? She weighs 2800lbs (weighed w/standard load), and has a Yamaha 200hp. 2 - Are there any left for that config? Thanks! Don |

Don - what propeller are you using now? How fast is your boat with that prop and what RPM are you seeing at WOT? |

Production has stopped as of July 15th, but there is still some inventory out there. I have two 13-1/4" x 15" Advantage 4.25 in stock here in Seattle if anybody needs one. Also remember that this same propeller will still be available as the Turbo 1, it just costs more. The Turbo part number for this size is MAR-13215-TR-D0 |

I just saw this Tom, bummer. Do you think it's too late to source a stainless prop for our family's '99 Dauntless 16/Mercury 90 2-stroke? We've been running it with a stock aluminum prop and I know that's leaving a lot of performance on the table. The boat is slow to plane, and we often run it with a pretty good load of people and gear. Any suggestions? |
