"I'm just writing to relay another happy whaler owner story. I have a 1987 Montauk which I purchased 5 years ago. I live in Southern Maryland and have access to the Chesapeake Bay as well as the Potomac, Patuxent and numerous other tidal rivers. Needless to say, my Montauk has served me well in all these waters under all kinds of conditions. I have a 14 year old son who has fished with me since he could hold a pole. My main concern when I was looking to buy a boat was safety for him as well as for my daughter and wife. The Montauk fulfilled all I was looking for. Since I purchased it, I have logged many hours in her and have never regretted making it my choice. I guess my only wish for change would be for more comfort in rough weather. I have a bimini top which provides some protection from the rain but none from the wind. I also know Boston Whaler once made a canvas "cabin" which was very expensive and in my case cost prohibitive. Has any other Whaler owner come up with a solution to this problem? If so, I'd really like to hear from you. If I could just get the center counsel area blocked off from the wind, my early spring and late fall fishing expeditions would be much more enjoyable. Thanks for any help."
