I want to use twin tanks under the RPS seat on my 17'. What non-metal options are out there: Tempo, OMC or? Any recommendations /experiences regarding any brand or model would be welcomed.

Howdy, Adaco.

I use a single Tempo 28gal. under the seat on my Montauk, but I think they make a 12 gallon size that a pair of will fit nicely.

The 28 gal is the best fit, cleanest and most economical in the long run.

I put in twin Tempo 13 gallon under my RPS in '01 Montauk. You need to go to WalMart and get a lawn tractor filler cap as the Tempo cap is too high. I thought about a single tank, but I wanted to be able to move the tank if needed even if it had fuel in it. I do have to slide the tank out a bit to fill it, but that is not a problem at all. To make the tanks fit on the mats I cut one edge (inside) of the mat off. Probably could have bought something to fit. They fit nice and I have plenty of fuel capacity now.

The Tempo 13 gallon tanks are $40 at Bass Pro. The 28 gallon tank is $105 in the Shoreway Marine catalog. Best prices I know of. To avoid leaks, be sure to take all plastic & brass threaded assemblies apart, and reseal with teflon tape. Always keep the vent screw tapped a little, unless the tank is totally full.

Thanks, guys, for the advice re the fuel tanks. And, to Jim H, many thanks for constantly managing this site so well. Your occasional "intercept" and directing us to a reference article on a particular subject makes this site (and all the contributors) an invaluable source of info and help for me. And, I will continue to refer to the above thread for additional info on fuel tank issues.
