This weekend it was time to really get down and see what state things were in under the floor. I already know from a quick look that there are several places with bare wood but none seems to have suffered water damage. I did find one place, around the opening to the rigging tunnel that is rotten on the edges and will need some Git-Rot and sealing before the floor goes down again. I also found lots of places where the gelcoat is pushed in, or thin or missing. Simular to what Dave found under his deck, although I don't think mine is quite as bad. Given the number of places to patch, my plan is to grind/sand out the gelcoat issues and then patch it all with Marine-Tex, including filling all the holes and redrilling all the screw holes. I have not pulled off the inspection ports yet but may do that next weekend to see if they look simular to the area around the rigging tunnel. Dave's findings last year: A look at mine: |
