What is the best wax and compound to get out gelcoat scratches? I over-used my pumice bar on the hull in one spot.

Waxes generally do not contain abrasives. They probably will not smooth out scratches.

Depending on the depth of the scratch in the gelcoat, you can smooth the gelcoat layer with a fine abrasive. Wet sanding with 600-grit or finer may be a good start.

Try #7 white polishing compound (Ace Hardware and most auto parts places).
Works great on light scratches.

I've made the same mistake in the past. See this thread: http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/011449.html

Thanks to all! What great information. I'll get my 18 Dauntless looking good once again.
