I'm in the process of installing a kicker bracket on my 1999 Outrage 17, and I am looking for some advise. I'm considering the Garelick fixed mount bracket: http://www.wholesalemarine.com/ garelick-stationary-auxiliary-outboard-motor-bracket. html?gclid=CNTim_n8zsQCFbIF7AodDRQAnw I had this bracket on my 1991 Outrage 17, and it handled my Mercuy 5-HP FOURSTROKE without a problem. This time I have a Mercury 6-HP FOURSTROKE that I'm sure will fit on it. I'm a bit confused from my research that I've done. There's one thread where it's recommended to use machine bolts that are tapped into the Whalerboard while there's another installation that calls for the bracket to be through-bolted. http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/007095.html http://www.whalercentral.com/infusions/personal_page/view_personal_page. php?user_id=13606 It appears either installation would work well but which would be the preferred method? Thanks for the feedback! Dave |

In the cited article, Chuck Bennett of Boston Whaler is quoted as recommending a method. It is hard to argue with Chuck Bennett. |

Anyone have an idea what size screws to use if I'm only going into the Whalerboard? I remember seeing something about it but I can't seem to find that thread again. Thanks! Dave |
