Help me select the correct propeller for good all around performance for a 1984 Boston Whaler SUPER SPORT 15 with a Yamaha F60 four-cycle motor--not the High-Thrust model--mounted on a 4-inch adjustable jack plate.

Indeed. Purchased the same prop from Tom with a 5" Bob's jack plate. It's all there.

Correction. I've got the Hot Shot Turbo in same measurements.

Thank you for your replies. What kind of top speed and cruising speed with this prop size? Do you have much weight on board? Thanks again, George

George, I weigh 155 and my girl weighs a "little more". Running 19 gallon fuel tank, 24# jack plate and a 238# Yamaha F60. Full 52 quart cooler forward and no front thwart.

3000 is cruise at about 22 mph. Top speed similarly equipped minus GF, 43.8 mph top GPS so far. That is MAX trim. I cannot give you any hole-shot performance whatsoever because I never do it.! Hope this helps. zotcha.

I have an F60 with whatever prop came from Yamaha dealer. It is a 15-G, or something. The dealer mounted my engine down too low, and my boat has [difficulty accelerating from a standing start] with that prop. But [the unidentified boat] gets up to 40-MPH on the GPS.

I am going to a jackplate (if another CW member who says he has one for me) is able to get it or at least going to have the engine mounted higher, and get a new prop most likely.

Hello Tom. I just picked up a 2008 F60 and I need a prop for the 1988 15 Sport conversion to center console. Again going 5" manual jack plate. Very similar weight and hopefully slightly shifted forward. Each will hold approximately 18 gallons of fuel but hoping to get the new cell under the console. Estimated 400 pounds (two people and gear). Looking for top-end, no holeshot. Any new recommendations?

I can swap the Turbo Hot Shot (10-1/2" X 15") from the classic (1982) to the center console (1988), if you've got something in mind to break the 43.8 mph/gps.

Wanted to try the Yamaha 70 or 90 two stroke but could not pass this up. Thanks. zot.

dnh, ran that factory (black-powdercoated) Yamaha prop at 10-1/4" X 15" for a year. Even a 230 pound friend running alone with 15 gallon Pate was bouncing off the rev. limitor. Be careful. I saw 6300 under right/WRONG conditions. The above mentioned prop is very good, affordable and performs well without blowout. I'm just looking to chine walk a little MORE!!!

I have the Stiletto mentioned above on my 15 with the F60. Me alone the boat will hit the rev limiter at 44 mph on the GPS.

surveyingdawg,

If you are hitting the rev limiter, then you need to reduce pitch to bring your WOT RPMs to within the recommended WOT range.

Stiletto does not offer any higher pitch than 15 inches in the Triad 3.5 line. You could try the Turbo Hot Shot 3.5 which is offered in both a 16 inch pitch and a 17 inch pitch.

Michael -- the 16 inch Hot Shot might be a good choice for you too. PowerTech makes some propellers to fit that motor as well and may be worth a shot.

Thanks Tom. I am going to keep the prop I have now as I am always loaded with a wife and 2 children, as well as a 90lb Yellow Lab. This prop has changed the whole attitude of the boat. It is so nice to be able to cruise at 35-36 mph instead of 26-27 as before. This whole thing has me seriously considering a 90 hp Etec. I only use this boat sparinly, well more than sparingly since gas in my 31 Contender is getting hard to stomach. I have just completed a complete renovation of it including adding a standup center console. I cannot express how much I love this boat. I had an 11 and my father currently has a classic Montauk. This boat seems to be such a better hull than the Montauk ride wise. What kind of power have you guys ever seen with these hulls. I have heard stories of guys running 115s on these. Is that true?

BTW, this is a classic 15 hull.

Matt,

Amazing what a simple change to a good propeller can do for you and your boat, isn't it?

Greg,

I just raised the console on my '87 15CC by twelve inches. It's discussed, with a photo, toward the bottom of this current thread:

Tom,

Would you recommend the same prop for a 15 sport (no jackplate)?

It sounds like there is a bit of trial and error as far as prop selection goes. I am considering buying a motor 45 mins away (much cheaper) but I am worried that I will have to continually drive back to "tune" the installation/setup.

With the price of propellers, what is the return policy? Do people just eat the cost of a new prop in hopes that it solves their current problem?

I have a connection to Michigan Wheel Corporation.

What prop would you recommend for good all around performance including some waterskiing?

Thanks in advance,

Gerrit

Would one or more of you who have this setup (F60 on a 15) be able to post some pictures of your installation? As you can see by this thread (http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/015733.html) I looked at a couple of 15s that had an unconventional installation, and I'm interested to see one that's done right. Very interested in interior and exterior shots of transom bolts / holes - would love to see pics of installations with and without jack plates. Also may be looking for a jack plate at some point, so would like to see what you have.

Thanks very much - if you are unable to post high-res pics here and could take a moment to email them (address in profile) that would be even better. I appreciate the help.

Tim
