Since there has been little to no action on the winter rendezvous thread for a couple weeks I figured why not start a rollcall for our trip being it is a month away and will be here before we know it.

OK...Who is going? Who is a maybe? Who is definately a party pooper and staying home to watch "Little House on The Prairie Season 3 DVD" Which I believe is the year that chick goes blind from Syphilis...good episode.

So far I can say Nick & Laurie w/13 sport will be showing up early Saturday...yeah I know I will be holding everyone up because I am late. Blame the wife, not me. Seriously should be there before 10am.

As of 12:40PM MacRae's has 3 std and 3 efficiency for Friday. 0 std and 3 efficiency for Saturday. There are plenty of other places nearby, even next door. Don't see any issue with dockage no matter where you stay. The public ramp is AT MacRae's as well.

Please advise as to who is coming, when and how long, and what boat so we can kinda get a feeling of what to expect and how to plan dockage, etc. There also might be a few people sans boat so if you have room and would like a stowaway or 2, mention that as well. Most cruising will be slow speed zones so holeshot or economy is not a concern if you are concerned.

See you there, gonna be a blast. Too bad..so sad for those who love Michael Landen.

Len are we following each other up to Homosassa? If you are gonna sell the 19, you better get some tires on her anyway. Try the local Mextire joints.

Sandy and I will be there with the 21 on Saturday and Sunday. We can handle a stowaway or two if Ratbastard doesn't come along.

I'll roll in Sat a.m., sans wife and baby, they'll be up North, probably bring a buddy, got to find one who can put up w/ us, for the the weekend festivites, 18' outrage, still got my crap trailer, but the trip up US19 shouldn't be too bad...right?.....
Which boat's escorting the keg this time?
Tohsgib posted 01-31-2008 10:32 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
Depends.....who wants a repower?

If we do get a keg, lets just get a 1/4 instead of a 1/2 of like Bud light or ?? I felt horrible leaving all that Stella behind and most of the women did not like it.

fno posted 01-31-2008 11:27 PM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
Nick has a history of alcohol abuse and that is why the Stella went by the wayside. Had you stuck around on Sunday there would have been a lot less beer to toss. Notwithstanding that, I second the quarter keg idea and don't care what's in it.

The swag has arrived. We will be raffling of some good stuff. Maybe even something for he/she who has travelled the furthest to get to the rendezvous. Snowbirds need not apply!! What are the dinner plans? The hotel has grills available if I remember correctly. I can bring the burner and pot for a boil or frying purposes. I will also bring my Coleman lantern as I remember preparing dinner in the dark last time.
Tohsgib posted 02-14-2008 10:47 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
Yes they have grills, but we would need charcoal, etc. I have a lantern or 2 as well. They also have a fire pit which we will probably use this time of year at night. Tiki bar usually has entertainment, if not we can supply it. For those who want to bring a dish, let us know what so don't have 20 people bringing the same thing. I am gonna go with some ribs or shrimp I believe. It is also my wife's B-Day(close enough) so I might bring cake.

Tohsgib posted 02-14-2008 10:48 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
PS...I have raffle tickets just like you get at raffles believe it or not. The 2 part type I believe...will try and dig them up.
fno posted 02-14-2008 10:21 PM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
I'll load some wood in the truck for the pit. Charcoal is on somone else. I may do some shish -kebabs> Filet and shrimp would be good. Brats for lunch at the pig pen too, so the boat grill will be there for others to use also.

Hey All,

I would like to come up for the event on Saturday, most likely just for the day. What is the plan look like for 3/1?

I am a veteran of the gathering at Anclote(1988 Outrage 22 WD) but still nervous of spending a full weekend with a group of Whaler crazies and unlimited booze.
Please advise to put my mind at ease!
Let me know if I can bring anything, also if I decide to spend the night are there any strange rituals or initiations I should be aware of in advance????

Thanks,
Peter

And in the corner in the red Whaler boxers is "The Lion".....you know the rules and no blows below the belt...now come out fighting! DING DING!

After 3 rounds The Lion has a few broken ribs but is still going strong...his opponent still says "I should have hit him harder!" DING DING!

So "The Lion" how do you feel after such a horrendous night?....No...honestly...I slipped getting on the boat!

Ex Mrs Lion...how do you feel after such a dramatic fight?...I guess I did not hit him hard enough! Next time I WILL hit him harder!

Well there you have it folks...now you now why divorces or so expensive, they're worth it!

After speaking with the "The Lion's" attorney/manager all he had to comment on that horrific evening was...Who here smokes Winstons? I have an ashtray full of Winston butts next to my bed and I don't now how they got there or who put them there!

Well maybe now you know why he was beaten so badly folks...his Lawyer obviously had too much to drink!

Good times for all!

I'm in!!

No ex-wife to bring, just the one and only wife! (in case she reads this)

I'm not sure who to believe, should I be afraid or everyone is harmless. I'll try not to show fear, I'm told they can sense fear.

Also, I would like any info on what is happening on Saturday.
When is everyone hitting the water? Where are we headed? Is it better to know nothing? Who is in charge and why?

Thanks,
Peter

Peter, we usually meet around 10:00 a.m. and wait another hour for Nick and Laurie ;-) As it is a river, we can go up or we can go down. Upstream is where the manatees are in the park at the springs.(Clear warm water too) Downstream is a long ride to the Gulf of Mexico and some bars-restuarants. We usually cruise around until late afternoon and then head back to the hotel and get the grills going for dinner, drinks, and cigars afterward.(Can you hear me, Stefan????) And yes Peter, it is better to know nothing. Last question: you might as well be in charge only cause you asked. We tend not to listen to authority figures anyway. Nick and I know the area fairly well and can lend little to no wisdom unless a beer is in hand. We like having kids around(up to a point) but Saturday night usually is an adult night and the little tykes might be scarred for life by our language and antics. Especially if Stefan remembers how to get to the liquor store.......

LMAO,I promise no guest of mine will be flipping the bird to any of my whaler friends....how could I forget how to get to the liquor shack, you made me go 2x janis....but I ain't planning to be the one most sober this time, so bring a bigger jug o 'shine you hear me girl?!

I got a coleman portable gas grill...I'll bring it for the evening festivities, buba burgers is all I'll be capable of cooking at that point.

Got some stogies, decent house brand of King Corona- we won't know the difference at that point anyways.

Peter's thinking of coming up for the day, that's funny...

fno posted 02-15-2008 10:22 PM ET (US)     Profile for fno  Send Email to fno
Stef, leave the bubba burgers at home!!! You can't hear shit, but I know you have taste buds left, so I'll cook for you. Bring some Johnsonville brats or Italian sausige for the grill on the boat. Are you going to bring you boat by land or sea?
an86carrera posted 02-16-2008 12:57 AM ET (US)     Profile for an86carrera  Send Email to an86carrera
I have a heck of a supply of Italian sausage(comes with the region) and some peppers and onions. Is that good?

I would not have problem with Stella A. What is the beer? Peroni? Birra Moretti? Nastro Azzurro (personal favorite)? I'm in for any.

Who is bringing the Hookas, how is that re-power?, we need a sausage chef/keg escort! We all need an Alibi?

And what about the other resultant re-power from the Cotee Rendezvous? Are you coming Eric?

Peter, as long as your not planning on trying to get one of us to let you sleep in our rooms y'all will be fine. We are not too bad until an hour or so after dark.

I'll bring brats then. I was planning by land, slow , just a straight shot up 19 for me. I did think by sea, might be more fun, but that's not a shot over to Anclote, that's a bit of a trek...I'll look into it.
Low Pro
Tohsgib posted 02-16-2008 08:41 AM ET (US)     Profile for Tohsgib  Send Email to Tohsgib
The low-pro would be cool and it idles w/o overheating. I am bringing the sport since the Bronco is Elvis so no long distance towing of the 19. I just have to remember to bring the bimini and some fuel...forgot those last time at the Suwanee. Frank are you bringing any dive gear? If you think we can bop around at the park, let me know and I will bring my stuff. Might be a good spot for my first dive in 7 years. Should we bring guns as well? Ya never know when I might want to start shooting stuff at midnight ;)
stefan posted 02-16-2008 01:34 PM ET (US)     Profile for stefan  Send Email to stefan
well it's a 45 mile drive for me by road, so by boat....It's a straight shot up the coast for me from the house. What do you guys think, how long would it take me at 35-40 mph, and fuel? Yes it's a new Etec , but that's a round trip gig, vs. the fuel to tow it a straight shot up 19?

We'll smack ya upside the head later but for now we are meeting at 10am at MacRae's in Homosassa. It is where we are staying and where the boat ramp is. They do not allow dogs in the rooms but I think all rooms are occupied anyway. They can recommend another motel or you can check mapquest, etc. Here is another link about what is going on:

Hope to see you there...gonna be a hoot with at least 10 boats and about 25 people.

10AM---It is the public ramp, just happens to be at MacRae's. If ANYONE gets there late(myself included), just drop in your boat and go east(always bear right) and when you can't go any further you will find us. Not sure how long we will be at the pig pen but probably till after lunch. Then we will head due west and go out to the gulf. Not much to see once in the gulf but the ride is pretty cool. There are also a bunch of side canals etc that we usually do a detour through on the way back. I figure we will get back to the dock about 4ish but nothing is written in stone.

Yes I have been there and yes those $7 drinks will put a whoopin on you. There is also a place called the Freezer that is within walking distance from Macs. They have a pretty good size order of Stone crabs for I think $20 and u-peel shrimp as well. Friend said it is pretty cool hangout along with the bar at Macs as well. The place across from Monkey Island burned down so no blue crab from them this time.

Gee, in the Keys and other places, thereb usually are more empty beer cans than fish in the boat. Also, on some of the sandbars in Florida there are more beer cans(hopefully in the boats) than bathing suits on some of them.

Roscoe, you might want to post a reference to that open container law. So far I have yet to find it. Nor do my aquaintances that patrol the Santa Fe river for FWC think it's a crime to have an open container in a boat. You can't be drunk and operate, that's for sure.

Unfortunately, I will not be attending this event(logistics). However, I know the folks going will be enjoying a few drinks. Just to clarify the prior "misinformation" regarding "open container laws", here is a direct quote from myfwc.com.

"without an open container law for boating, both the operator and passengers can legally drink alcoholic beverages while boating in Florida."

Go to this site and scroll ahead 4 pages:

http://myfwc.com/boating/safety/BUI/journey.swf

I have heard folks before telling people that they could get arrested if they were driving a boat with an open container of alcohol and it is simply not true. I certainly dont condone driving drunk, but you can have a drink while boating.

Leave it to the Irish guy to know the scoop on this topic, imagine that.

Yes Stefan that was me...having lunch with the Rents. What a day!

No I did not have a beer in my hand nor did I consume any at that point. That was the bar my neighbor was leaving when he disappeared.

I'll be on 68. Nick doesn't have a radio so he could care less. What brand of keg are you going to bring? 1/4 keg is enough for us lightweights. As usual, funds will be appropriated for the keg.

Sorry, but I won`t be there. I just picked up an outboard on E-Bay and plan to drive to Ft. Lauderdale Sat. to pick it up.

68 it is,

I'm planning to make the trip via the Gulf, so I ain't bringing no keg my friend...I won't forget the Brat's/buns. Do I need to bring my camper gas grill?

I was going to say have Nick bring the keg, but he's always late....I can bring the tap, who's going to be the hero?

I'll see what I can do about the keg being nobody else gives a darn.

I'll be on channel 69

No radio for me, a few years back they invented these things called Cellular phones. If not far offshore, they work REALLY well.

I give a darn, but I'm flying in the night before, so I can't be goin to the beer store. They have grill at the hotel, I've got the one for the boat. Do I need to bring the fryer/steamer for crustaceans?

Neither do I except for ice and a bucket. Give me a buzz with the price on a 1/4 domestic light stuff...Miller/bud/Michelob light? I'll work on the Pabst Blue Ribbon for those who appreciate good beer ;)

Care for a beer boy? No thanks.
No thanks for what? No thanks for a beer.
A beer? What a great idea, let's have a beer.
What kind of beer do you drink boy? Heineken sir.

Well, plan to hit the road early tomrrow morning although the wife will not be making the trip. A family matter came up and someone needs to stay home to deal with it. I was going to cancel out but it looks like McCraes already hit my credit card with the first night.

Wife knows I have been looking forward to this gathering and said to still come and enjoy myself. She is a great woman. Looking forward to meeting you guys. See you Saturday morning.

Hey Binkie...since you live so close, why not meet up with us on sat evening or early Sunday for a morning run? Don't have to bring a boat if ya don't want to. I have a friend who is looking for an antique outboard and was hoping to pick your brain a little...let us know.

Len is checking on his side...I'll work on mine! Problem is the keg works out to be about 3.33 cases of beer with NO waste. I honestly think 3.5 cases is NOT enough so why not everybody just bring their own? Even with the keg it works out to be about $14/case so not much savings. Plus..according to Roscoe....if I get pulled over with a keg in my boat...I'm going to jail!
Binkie posted 02-28-2008 10:40 PM ET (US)     Profile for Binkie
Low temp tonight will be 37 degrees, had skim ice in my birdbath this morning, that's 30 miles south of Homosassa. Might be a little warmer tomorrow but not much. Dress warm. As far as the keg in the boat thing, Roscoe got me thinking, I was out fishing in the Gulf from Bayport (Hernando County) the other day, and upon re entering the Withlacoochee River I noticed a sign nailed to a marker that read "Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on board illegal", or something like that. It was an official state sign. Also saw 3 Sheriff Department boats cruising around. Seems like there are cops on the water everywhere now. Caught a few nice trout on the flats, but had to release them, season doesn`t open till Saturday. Bummer.

Show me a FL rule that says I can't have a beer on board and I will sell my boats. Driving drunk is another thing but posession is 9/10ths of the law. If posessing alcohol is illegal then how do you have a wet bar on your 65' Viking???? C'mon we all know the rules and the rules are don't fall overboard when the cops pull you over!

Ya know there is a rule where NO alcohol is allowed on board and that is in State Parks. If you were in an area like that Binkie, it very well could have said what it did.

I was going to say the same thing. I think the sign he was referring to must have been in waters around a state park.

Stay away from the parks boys.

The 2nd annual Homosassa Rendezvous is just a memory now..... Some of it more memorable than others. We had our usual late start from Macraes, which once again outdid themselves in quality and service to us, our boats and the dogs too. We took a no-wake ride up to the springs and got to see at least half a dozen manatees rolling around in the 72' water under our boats. They must have a prefernce for tilt and trim fluid as they spent most of the time behind Petes(PTKPROD) motors. We then motored back to Macraes, passing monkey island (Yes, real monkeys!!!!) to begin the evening festivities at the motel. Keep in mind that this "motel" has a boat ramp, docks, tiki bar, grills, fire pit, and lots of bikers. Len(an86carrera)& Margit brought shrimp and ribs, and a 1/4 keg. Sandy and I brought cheese and crackers, kabobs with filet and shrimp. Nick(Tohsgib) brought his appetite. Our neighbors at the hotel provided a bonfire for the evening and we smoked some fine cigars provided by Stefan(Stefan). We also gave away a bunch of cool swag(50th anniv. cup, posters, calendar, and some other BW trinkets. The rest is best left unsaid. As they say, what happens in Homosassa stays in Homosassa. Janice made us a great sign for the weekend, that can be used if we cross out the "2nd" and write in "3rd"

We also got to welcome some new friends and recent members of the GCBWOA. Excuse me for messing up the names, but we had Terry(Lakeman) and his wife from Lake Wier, FL. Also, Joe Morgan(Jmorgan) made the drive from Atlanta and showed off his pristine Outrage. I got to get your flag back, Joe. We also got to welcome, even though they have been to one event before, was Pete(PTKPROD), Debbie, and Harry. No, it wasn't Debbie Harry. Pete's the one who was apprehensive about coming to one of our shindigs. Now he must be really scared and they didn't even stay for dinner and drinks. Janice finally showed up with two of her lady fisherfriends and ignored us for most of the day, caught no edible fish, and made Joe go to the drive thru liquor store at 10:00p.m. to get more rum. Some things never change...

Next time we want to see more Yankees, Left Coasters, and any other miscreants inclined to dust off their winter blues to come on down for the weekend at least. Pictures should be forthcoming, but I was too busy tending the keg all day to snap any photos. Really sucks being the beer barge.

We had 8 boats which was 3 shy of who SAID they were coming. I had 6 people in my 13' so I passed some off to Joe who was solo. Frank I did bring a bunch of food but most was ate at the pigpen and the leftovers went home with Pat by accident. Took the food, left the raft. The bikers were having a retirement party for a friend at the bonfire....why we don't know. Homo seems to have not changed much in the last 4 years except for the Manatee police on kayaks. Ride home was just about right. If it was another 1/2 hour I might have had to pull over for a nap. We have to get together agin soon...that was too much fun. Give my liver some time to recoup and we'll start on either the Sarasota Whaler gig or ????

what was with the CCCP kayak police? Holy Macrae! It was a smooth ride for me 1 1/2 hrs if you don't count the no wake crap up river at my place, and at Homosassa. A little chilly at 40-45 miles an hr. I had to go a litle of GPS to account for the shallow rock zones at Arepika and Chaz.

I agree w/ Frank, Macrea's was top notch, except bar closed early Sat, too cold for the band to play..Say What?

When's Sarasota?

Well,
I hit the road on Monday about 9:00 am. The ride home was alittle longer and I pulled into the driveway around 4:30 PM. Had a great time in Homosassa meeting all of you and I had a great time. Just wish the wife could of made the trip. I will definitly try to make another gathering. Maybe I can talk Keven "MiniTauk" into making the trip.

Stephan, I saw you heading out Homosassa channel Sunday morning. I was to the left of marker 14. Tried to hail you on 16, 68, and 69 with no luck.

Here are the pics I took. Frank, the wife loves your pups.

In fact I went down hill and never recovered from there. Thank god for my two riders, Dawn was one hell of a navigator helping me navigate the crap pots after 5 Gins. God I had a Great time!

Hey...if you can afford a Whaler then you can afford rehab!

Ok...so both boats were restaurants with bars being Frank cooked Brats and held the keg. We had BAGS of goodies but most were consumed or stepped on(my bad on the scoops!). That onion dip Debbie had was the bomb!

Does anyoneknow when Sarasota gig is? I know we swear never to ge every year but it is a good excuse to do some southern driving...and burn THEIR fuel! They better have Stuart this year, I need my Lobsta.

Great time at Homosassa!!

Debbie, Harry and I had a terrific time even for just the day.
If the word gets out that you people are fun, easy-going and relatively civilized; the hard core drinking, party animal rep is going down the drain. Be careful!

We are ready for the next get together and ready to road trip if needed.

Thanks for a fun day

Sarasota is not out yet but not going to be at the Hyatt. Stuart I think has been moved to Islamorada in June but waiting for confirmation. Bob Kemmler wants to come up so let's try and get something at Beercan or ?? for April.
