Boston Whaler started installing the reinforcement for the optional aft seat option on Montauk 170's manufactured from January 2006 and up. The newer style aft sun/lounge sternseat option (offered in 2008?)would also require the additional reinforcement.

If you have a 2006 Montauk 170 make sure it was manufactured in 2006 before exploring OEM aft seating as an option. My Montauk 170 is a 2006 model but was manufactured in 11/2005, missing the boat (pun intended), by 2 months.

That said, if you own a Montauk 170 manufactured before January 2006 here is one option that was referred by Chuck Bennett at Boston Whaler.

Company name: Anderson's Manufacturing
Address: Mims, FL
Phone: 321-267-7028
Web: www.amui.org

Hope this helps all looking at an aft seat solution for their Montauk 170.

Crap, for 1500 bucks my guest can stand. I think that seat would look pretty ugly, just my 2 cents

1,500 is pretty steep I admit. I think once the seat is in the boat, and conformed to the step seats, your eye won't be drawn to the support struts so much (the ugly part).

I just e-mail the company to see if they have images of the seat installed in a Montauk 170. I also asked how they secure the seat to the hull.

To Be Continued....

Erik Selis posted a picture back in 2006. It's the second image link on his post on this thread. http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/002586.html
