I have a newly acquired 1999 26 outrage and have a question about how the console is mounted. When I take the top of the console and push it in any direction, the entire structure moves a little bit. It is not the deck moving.. that is solid as a rock, but the console seems to move on the deck.

There are slight spider cracks forming at the front two corners of the deck from impact? Can anyone tell me how this console is attached and how I can "sure-it-up"? It is not really sitting on the deck like my previous whaler's console, since the console is hollow for the head.

Where the base meets the deck is actually covered by a black trim strip. Do you think I can take it off and run a fresh bead of caulk around the base to solve the problem? The inside is lines and I cannot see any mounts from the console interior.

Any guesses or help is appreciated.

Though I am not fortunate enough to have a 26 Outrage - Congratulations - I suspect that you console is attached to the deck via multiple bolts/nuts (or backing plates). To really be sure - contact Whaler - they can and will help, without question. Rechalking will not solve your problem. --- Jerry/Idaho

Looking at this

http://www.whalerparts.com/Diagrams/1999/260%20Outrage/pb260or04.pdf

It's seems there is a raised moulded edge on the deck that the console is probably screwed in to.

There is a similar recent thread on this problem here

http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/017280.html

that may be of assistance
