[The Boston Whaler 220 Outrage boat was the] featured model on the cover of the latest TRAILER BOATS magazine. Detailed article in this edition. Guess the 210 Outrage of the last several years will be phased out. A nice design, with some pretty good deals likely on remaining inventory on dealer lots. Posted for those going to the Boat Shows this winter.

Has "Trailer Boats Magazine" resumed publication? If so, they owe me some issues.

I thought the same thing. Then, I read their notice of publication fine print and they only print 9 out of 12 months per year. Go figure!

I am surprised there is not more interest/discussion in the latest Outrage.

The boating market really is in the dumps!

Utah is without a Whaler dealer anymore so videos help in looking at models. Check out this excellent video of the 2009 220 Outrage with twins. Looks like a great T-top and I like the layout a lot.

For me, this one with a 300-HP and room on the transom for a kicker without the need for a bracket would be the ticket. A classic it's not, but I think it is a great looking boat

I agree, not a classic, but definately a good looking boat.

I enjoyed watching the video recording of the boat dealer's presentation. It was very well done. Thanks for posting that link.

A drink holder - hawsepipe combination! The ultimate blend of beer and function.

Wow.

I’ll probably get teased unmercifully, but that hawse pipe drink holder is actually a nice thing to have. When you are sitting on the back seat there is no safe place to set a drink on my boat. I wish had them.

It’s weird how companies change designs. Then change back. The overall specifications of the 220 Outrage are nearly identical to my 2001 23 Outrage:

- The 23 outrage hull is only one inch longer
- The beam is the same.
- The draft is the same.
- The published weight is 3,000 for the 220 vs. 3,375 for the 23
- Swamp Capacity is 5,000 for the 220 and 5,500 for the 23
- Max HP at 300 is the same

There are some differences though:

- I think the 220 pickup a degree, or two in transom deadrise over the 23, but that’s a guess. If so, the new 220 probably rides better in a head sea.
- The 220 is more modern with DTS and four stroke motor(s). That DTS must be sweet. Not worrying about oil tanks would be nice as well.
- The 23 carries 50 more gallons of fuel
- The 23 has a much bigger center console (not good or bad)
- The 23 has a much larger anchor locker (good for me because I have a huge anchor)
- The 23 has a bow pulpit (I prefer one for anchoring)

Overall I prefer the layout of my 23, but that is mostly because I’m more familiar with it.
I’ll bet the 220 is a better balanced boat though. Aren’t the batteries in the console? My 23 is too stern heavy because everything is in the stern such as: twin engines, twin batteries, twin 3 gallon oil tanks, 8 gallon fresh water tank etc.

Thanks for the comparison, I would like to see a similar one to the predecesor to my last generation 210 Outrage.

The 220 got back some of the features lost on my 2006 210 like the anchor locker (plus windlass option) and a porta potti, twin engine option which gives you the transom gate, but you loose the quater seats with the single splash well configuration.

I have aft drink holders :)

Although I would like to replace these with the stainless steel ones.

I like the 220 helm layout and it's not disimilar to the new one I have been considering

The new aft seat is very nice, but the twin helm chairs options means there is a lack of grab rails around the aft, especially comparred to the old delux seating.
